Haddyn: 200 years in the Future (Day Three)

And so our heroes have broken up into smaller groups.

One to rescue Dawn and stop Harth from whatever he had planned.

The other to protect the Watcher building and allow Willow to cast her spell.

From the streets the lurks slowly begin to surround the building, blocking any chance for escape.

Katara wasn't entirely sure what she was expecting to attack, but she watched anyway, water close to hand.

As the lurks assembled around the building the began to climb their way up the walls to get to the top.

That wasn't good. She wanted to look down and see how exactly they were managing to climb, but the better idea seemed to be to send a rush of the holy water down at the first ranks.

Peter had found himself a sword in the armoury and stood, guarding Willow, staying a careful distance away to keep from accidentally distracting her.

There was a shattering of class as two lurks burst into the room and snarled at Willow and Peter.

The spell was a heck of a lot easier to cast when you weren't in a hospital bed. Feeling grateful for Peter's protection, Willow recited the words of the curse and cast the spell.

She hoped for the best, and then looked to make sure Peter was okay.

Harth's Lair: Sneaking in...

The rescue crew wait until most of the lurks have drifted away before trying to sneak in.

Unfortunately there are still plenty of vampires about.

Sam and sneaky did not always go well together, but he was doing his best as the rescue crew tried to get inside.

The creature standing a few feet away watching probably didn't think Sam was doing very well with sneaking.

Erin had her zap gun drawn. As soon as she saw lurks approaching she began to open fire.

She held a stake that Mel had given her in her other hand.

She didn't ask why there was a label on it that said "Clyde".

One lurk crept closer with an eerie grin, aiming a sweeping kick for Erin's legs.

Xander had a sword (stolen from the Watchers' weapons-horde - he figured he was entitled) and a faint, grim smile. He wasn't doubting their ability to rescue Dawn - just thinking of the last time he'd gone off with a sword in his hand and Willow somewhere back behind him trying to stick a soul into a vampire.

The lurk's smile wasn't faint or grim. There were lots of them around. She'd drink plenty of blood tonight.

Harth's Lair: Rescuing Dawn...

Dawn hangs from the ceiling, strapped spread-eagled on rack above a ceremonial site drawn on the ground.

A shallow cut on her arms and abdomen slowly drip to the ground where a strange glow is beginning to form.

The vampire guards (A couple who have bruises where they've been kicked by a certain watcher Jr.) turn to face the rescue party.

Dawn, totally hanging there, staring at the ground below her and waiting for it to just fall away. Watching the drips fall into the glow and waiting for dragons and demons and...

It was almost hypnotic.

"I am so fucking over this."

Almost.

Sam managed to make it to the room where Dawn was being held, and his eyes widened when he finally saw her. "Dawn!" he yelled. So much for the element of surprise.

Harth stands above the chaos on a balcony overseeing the chaos.

He continues to chant as the attack begins, his eyes focused on the portal opening below.

Mel fought her way through the line of lurks like an insane person. She climbed her way up the wall and jumped to the ground with a loud thunk.

She pulled out her scythe and slowly began to approacher her big brother.

"Hey there Scaredy," Mel said looking grim. "It's been a while."

Harth stopped chanting and closed the text he was writing.

"Oh Mel. You never write. You never call. Is that how you treat someone you love?"

After the battles...

With Dawn (presumably) rescued the group returns to find the Watcher building battered but still standing.

Much like most of the heroes returning.

Mel returned with the others, not saying anything but gathering up what few belongings she had and waited for the others to get together so she could activate the thing so they could all go home.
