Haddyn: 200 years in the Future (Day Three)

And so our heroes have broken up into smaller groups.

One to rescue Dawn and stop Harth from whatever he had planned.

The other to protect the Watcher building and allow Willow to cast her spell.

Harth dragged himself to his feet and gave his sister a grin.

"Yeah. It did."

And then he smashed his fist into Mel's face and sent her flying across the room.

"MEL!"

Erin ran across the room and toward her sister, for one quick moment forgetting everything but her sister's welfare.

And it would cost her.

Harth grabbed his eldest sister by the shoulders and throat and gave her a scary grin.

"Oh Erin. Do you know what the best sound in the world is? It goes something like this."

And in one quick movement he twisted her head in the wrong direction which let out a loud cracking sound.

And Erin fell to the floor dead.

"You should have listened to her Mel," Harth laughed as he went over to his sister.

"Then again? You never did listen," he said... right before stomping on her head.

"The you might have remembered that when that lurk bit me? I bit back!"

Harth lifted up Mel's head and slammed it on the floor.

"Don't you get it? Don't you get after all this time. I CHOSE THIS!"

He slammed her head twice more on the floor before pulling it back to look at her.

"And if you would have listened? You could have prevented everything. You stupid idiot."

"Newsflash, Mel," Harth growled. "You're not going to survive this."

Suddenly there was a scampering sound and an "EEEEEEP!" type noise...

And a furry blur that appeared to be a multi-armed-spider-demon monkey hurling itself at Harth and to the ground below (http://community.livejournal.com/fh_trips/17709.html?thread=3120685#t3120685)

When Sam seemed to have things under control, most of the vampires scattering after Harth's fall, Xander looked up to where he'd fallen from - but there was no sign of Mel. So Xander climbed, feeling a little like he had in the million bad dreams that came after the last time somebody had tried to use Dawn to tar a hole in the world, except this time it hadn't been the Slayer who'd plummeted to the ground. So they'd won, right?

Except it didn't sound like it, when he made it up to the balcony. "Mel?"

He walked over to her, and had just started to ask, "You oka--" when he caught sight of Erin's body. "...Frak."

"It worked?" Xander pointed over the edge of the balcony, then back to Erin's fallen body, his face twisted with confusion.

'He did that with a soul,' Xander finally put into words, if only in his head. One way or another, Mel had lost her whole family today, just when she thought she was getting them back.

"Yeah, we can go home." He offered her his arm, if she'd take it.
