And so our heroes have broken up into smaller groups.

One to rescue Dawn and stop Harth from whatever he had planned.

The other to protect the Watcher building and allow Willow to cast her spell.

Okay, Sam might not have been sneaky, but at least he was prepared, and the grip he had on the knife in his pocket tightened a little

The lurk decided this was a good moment to leap forward, springing towards Sam's neck.

And Sam decided this would be a good moment to turn around and take a stab at the vampire.

The lurk dodged, but not quickly enough, and got a slash across his arm. He growled and lunged again, reaching a hand for Sam's throat.

Why do they always go for the throat?! Sam thought, gasping as the vampire grabbed him. But, that brought him within arms reach, so he made another stabbing attempt towards the lurk's heart.

The lurk dropped Sam as he dusted.

Sam managed to catch himself before he stumbled too badly, coughing and rubbing at his neck before going to make sure everyone else was all right.
