Washington DC [Sunday Morning]

After arriving in front of the Air & Space Museum, Veronica passed out maps and told her students, "You can go anywhere and take pictures, but I recommend the places circled on these maps. You're also free to check out any of the museums on the Mall."

[please wait for OCD up! All Photography and Flight & Flying students can play in either post. Field trip is Sunday in game, but posts are open for slow play.]

After a bit of a walk from the Air and Space Museum (http://community.livejournal.com/fh_trips/10529.html?thread=1156129#t1156129), Rory and Anakin stood at the foot of the steps leading up to the memorial.

"Told you it was bigger," she said.

Remembering Walter's reaction to this one the last time they were in DC, Nadia spends a few quiet moments just observing the memorial.

And takes a few pictures, as well, of course.

This one took Peter by surprise as he walked down the Mall. He took a few moments to collect himself before moving into it and looking at the pillars and monuments. He wasn't crying at all. Really.

After the museums, Aeryn decides she's okay to brave the weather and see the memorial. It's still strange for her to see things like this set up to honor people who were doing their job, but she knows they do things differently here.

The heat's not making her happy, either, but she looks around and sees that everyone else seems to be mostly fine with it, so maybe she's just overreacting.

Elizabeth spends some time here, taking photos of not just the Capitol, but also the senate buildings. At times, she may appear to just be staring; lost in thought.

Jaye wasn't happy with her photography last time. So this would be her trying to get pictures from every single angle.

Also, per Elizabeth's suggestion, if she could get someone to lay down in front of it for a photo op, that would be awesome.

Blair had leftover signs from his gremlin protest and just might possibly be standing across from the White House with them. In a very low key manner, of course.

Nadia gets a picture of some of the gifts left along the Vietnam Memorial. One shot in particular, of a teddy bear in fatigues with a rose laid in front of it, she hopes comes out well.

Nadia finds herself in the Playbill Cafe off of Dupont Circle around lunch time. They're serving a Sunday brunch, so she gets a very large omlette and two croissants.

Mmm, brunch.

Re: Other Places in DC: National Zoo

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-06-17 07:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia heads into the zoo after she finally gets the hang of the metro system and is thus no longer walking all over town.

There are notices up about how they're going to tear down the elephant house and rebuild it, so Nadia takes a lot of pictures of that. It's a very cute building by human standards, but she can see where elephants might not like it much.
