Washington DC [Sunday Morning]

After arriving in front of the Air & Space Museum, Veronica passed out maps and told her students, "You can go anywhere and take pictures, but I recommend the places circled on these maps. You're also free to check out any of the museums on the Mall."

"Nothing bad," Peter said quickly. "Pippi and I were talking about football and the World Cup. She mentioned that you were starting a gang of footy hooligans."

"That was mostly just to cheer her up when we were in the clinic, but it could be fun, if you're interested."

"As long as it doesn't involve too much shirtlessness or body paint," Peter said with a small grin. Because he'd luckily been warned about that plan.

Nadia shook her head sadly, even as she smiled. "That is what is wrong with you British. No appreciation for the human form. Hiding it away with your waistcoats and layers."

"As long as that's all that's wrong with us," Peter said. "I can accept it without an issue."

"When did these get catagorised as problems?" Peter asked.

"When I started dating one of you." Nadia grinned. "He has no appreciation for a good cup of coffee and it can be very frustrating to talk to him when he's upset about something."

Okay, so Nadia wasn't exactly Ms. Share-a-lot when she was upset, either. But at least she didn't blame her reticence on a national mode of behavior.

"You just have to look at them from the right direction. Not liking coffee means more for you, and the not talking thing means at least no one is whining about unimportant stuff?" Peter suggested, a grin playing about his face.

"But it also means no talking about the important stuff. And not liking coffee means he's always trying to get me to drink tea." Nadia smiled back, glad to see she'd managed to cheer him up a bit.

"As long as it all works out on the positive side of the scale in the end," Peter said. "We British boys have to be good for something otherwise we wouldn't be kept around."

Yes, he was innocent of the possible dirty in that statement. Really.

"Well, yes, Walter is quite good at many different things," Nadia's grin turned just a little bit shmoopy. "So I forgive your country on general priciple."

Peter looked around him with a slightly sad, slightly haunted expression. "Has Walter been here?" he asked Nadia.

Nadia nodded. "We had a field trip to DC last spring. He pretty much reacted the same way you did."

"I think it's just that it seems so odd remembering being in the middle of it, and now..." he shrugged. "Bloody Americans taking their time about coming in."

Nadia shrugged. "I don't know that much about it. I didn't get much school before coming here, and as far as I know, Argentina didn't get involved."

Peter nodded. "Strange to think of it as history to learn as well."

Nadia stood quietly for a moment. "I never thought of it, that way. I try not to think about it much, actually. It just reminds me that, eventually, Walter will be leaving and I won't ever see him again."

"I can see where you would not," Peter said slowly. "I didn't mean to bring up a sad topic. Well, that's obviously incorrect, but I didn't mean for it to be sad for you."

Nadia shrugged. "That's okay. We still have a few years before that will happen. And who knows, maybe I'll convince him to stick around."

"It's possible," Peter said with a nod though he rather thought Walter's sense of duty was akin to his own. "Are you from this time then?"
