Saturday was hazy and humid and warm, but still better than Virginia.

River woke early as usual. She opened her eyes and stared up at the ceiling, smiling as she watched the light move across it with the fluttering of the curtain. She smiled, then quietly slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Door if she was still sleeping, and walked up to the window and looked out.

Faith was exhausted. Not that she'd admit it, to either of the other occupants of the makeshift bed, who'd better be just as tired as she was, or she was losing her touch. And she wasn't.

She sat up and checked herself over. The bruises seemed to be healing nicely, but there were a couple of pretty showy hickeys.

Faith was starting to love Scotland.
