Scotland, June 2004

Saturday was hazy and humid and warm, but still better than Virginia.

"Mine are healin' already," she said, showing one to him. "Slayer thing. Comes in handy."

"Yeah, must. Alec's got super speedy healing too," Dean said, glancing fondly over at where his double was still sprawled asleep. "I'm the one who has to make do with just normal human speed healing."

Faith laughed. "Nice job keepin' up. You want us to go easy on you next time?"

"Hell no," Dean protested. "I can hold my own." He gave her a lecherous grin. "Course it's more fun if someone else holds it..."

"Ooooh, look who woke up horny." Faith grinned back at him. "Didn't think you'd be up for it again so quick."

"I'm a 16 year old guy," Dean pointed out.

"Most 16-year-old guys are a two-pump ... wait." Faith blinked. "You're sixteen?!"

"Yeah. Or, depending on how you look at it, I could be 19. See, there was this portal..."

Faith shook her head. "Never mind. Your school is fucked up. Damn. You even legal!?"

"I've got ID that says I am if you want to see it," Dean offered.

"Not particularly." Faith rubbed at her eyes. "Fuck, you don't look sixteen. Okay. Tell me he's legal, too?"

"He turned 17 a month and two days ago," Dean said cheerfully.

Faith laughed, rolling her eyes. "Great. Wonderful. Just what I wanted to hear. A little jailbait to start the day. Man, you guys seem older than that."

Dean shrugged. "My mom was killed by a demon when I was four and my family's been hunting ever since. And Alec's spent most of his life being treated as nothing more than a weapon by the coroporation that created him. Neither of us really fit into the so-called normal mold."

"Didn't get the whole picket-fence in the suburbs myself," said Faith with a shrug of her own, not meeting his eyes. "Add the Slayer thing and you've got a recipe for disaster. Which I was fuckin' good at."

"You seem pretty together now," Dean offered.

"Went to jail," Faith said conversationally. "Got my shit together. Kinda. Stopped killin' people, at least. Makin' big progress here."

"Alec used to kill people too," Dean said. He shook his head. "What you're doing now is more important than what you did in the past."

"Great, we all got lots in common." Faith shrugged. "I've heard the whole speech, 'bout makin' somethin' of yourself. Someone kinda laid it out for me: you did bad shit, fine. You can't go back and undo it. You either suck up and deal, or you run from it, and one of those is gonna get you killed."

"Sounds like a healthy attitude to have to me."

Faith nodded. "Yeah. Good guy. Thought I was worth savin' back when I didn't."

She looked over at Alec. "He always sleep this heavy? Must've burned him out something fierce."

"Actually he's usually up before I am," Dean said, frowning slightly as he looked down at Alec, wondering if he needed to make sure his double was taking his tryptophan daily.

Though Alec wasn't stupid and he had a good supply so why wouldn't he?

"Maybe he got more bruises to heal," said Faith with a smirk. "You feelin' like breakfast?"

"I could eat," Dean said with a grin. "Actually I pretty much always can eat."

"Growing boy and all," she grinned. "C'mon, let's get you some nutrition. See if Sleeping Beauty comes to in the meantime."
