Scotland, June 2004

Saturday was hazy and humid and warm, but still better than Virginia.

[ooc: Please await crazynuts OCD. OCD is up and not nuts because Firefox is being tempermental! Have fun!]

Sam thought it would be a horrible crime to come all this way and not take a look at the library. The fact that it made a nice hiding place from everyone else was just a bonus.

It wouldn't hurt to spend a little time working on the translation, Giles told himself as he headed back to the library. He'd be social afterwards.

He stepped inside, then stopped short seeing the unfamiliar teenaged boy looking around.

"Can I help you?"

Sam immediately pulled his hand back from the book he was about to touch, and whirled around. "Oh, um. Hi. Sorry," he stammered. "I was just looking around. You've got a seriously impressive collection here."

"You interested in arcane texts?" Giles asked, looking the boy over.

"I am, yeah," Sam replied, hoping that he could possibly impress this Giles while he had the chance. "I can't remember the last time I saw so many texts in their original languages."

"The advantage of a millenia old organisation, even if most of it did get blown up," Giles said dryly. "You recognise the languages?"
likethegun: (i'm smug and satisfied)

"Most of them, yeah. I don't know what all of them say," he admitted. "Dawn's helping me with some of the languages I don't already know."

Alec headed down to the training room later in the day, deciding to loosen up a bit with some non-dirty physical exertion.

Spike's not going to ask how the staff was able to get otter blood so quickly and he certainly wasn't going to complain.

However the lack of wheat-a-bix was something of a disappointment.

River had wandered down into the kitchen in search for a snack when she noticed someone else there for similar reasons. She tilted her head and stared at him.

"Not polite to stare, lass," Spike stated out loud. "You one of the newbie slayers?"

River shook her head. "I'm River. Friend of Dawn's. You're Spike." The name was easy enough to pick up, even if his mind wasn't easy access.

"Yeah. That's me," Spike said as he poked through the shelves. "I take it you go to the same crazy little school as her?"

That made River smile as she nodded happily. "Good place." She took a step forward, tilting her head. "You're a vampire and still not quite. Means I'm not supposed to kill you?"

"That would be appreciated," Spike said with a grunt of amusement. "And I'll stick to not drinking any human blood. Work for you?"

Buffy was a little surprised to see Spike when she went to get a snack. "Gee, you never write, you never call..."

"Then I show up on your doorstep without any proper warning," Spike replied with a small smirk. "Would you think anything less of me?"

"After you showed up randomly all reundead?" Buffy said. "Maybe you'd thought I had been surprised out by now."

"Maybe," Spike said quietly. "Or maybe I wasn't sure what the type of greeting I'd get. Your girls are getting quite the reputation. Maybe a souled vampire wouldn't be welcome around here."

"You mean like the Slayer wrestling match I got to walk in on?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.
