Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Monday - Evening

While the sun might have been setting, the activity in the city was not dying down. Far from it, actually. There was more and more noise as the work day ended and the celebration began. If you were into that sort of thing, that is.

The hotel was still open for those less interested in the nightlife of Rio de Janeiro.

Copacabana Palace - Room 324

Elphaba had returned to her room after her time swimming, and now lay on her bed in a towel, drying her hair.

She'd try to find a vegan restaurant somewhere in this town. They had to exist, surely. Not everyone here was just devouring the flesh of animals wantonly. She hoped.

Hanna had been trying to locate Elphaba all day...or at least when she wasn't on the beach, completely oblivious to her surroundings at the time.

Now she was back at the room she woke up in, hoping her friend was there now. She knocked on the door.

RIO! RIO! RIO!

After a portal ride through several stupid lounges decorated in late Fifties and then futuristic magenta, Kenzi was thrilled to be in Rio. And wondering who her roomie was.

Eventually, said roomie was knocking on the door with a cheerful announcement of "Room service!"

Jeremy couldn't resist a good restaurant, so he was here, people watching a little, and eating a lot.

And totally comparing his experience to actual Northern Italian cuisine, yes.

While later she might go to the samba thing (Petra had mentioned it, so it had to be something good), Dany was more in the mood for a quiet early part of her evening. She found the restaurant, pleased that the dimness of the lights hid the fact that her hair was a little greenish, and settled into the idea of eating a wholly unladylike amount of food.

Having procured a swimsuit, Loki took the time to attempt the pool. At night, yes. There was far less chance of having to deal with strangers then.

And he could only wander around, trying food so much before he felt like Volstagg.

At the edge of the pool was a familiar girl who has a ridiculous smile on her face.

"I didn't realize that gods were nocturnal swimmers," she joked. She herself wasn't dressed for swimming, but was dressed in her usual manner. She was on her way back into the hotel, night time wasn't the time for exploring for Dorothy.

It was rather late when a thoroughly drunk Bobby was making his way back up to his hotel room, and he juuuust so happened to pass by the pool. Which contained a Loki.

So he was just gonna duck behind a conveniently located pillar and start slooowly freezing that pool water.

AND THE CONGA LINE CONTINUES!

"Yessir I'm Cuban Pete!"

Right through the middle of the pool

"I'm the craze of my native street"

Again in Speedos. And water wings.

"When I start to dance everything goes Chick-Chicky-Boom! Chick-Chicky-Boom! Chick-Chicky-Boom!"

And floaties. Of course.

[And we'll blame [livejournal.com profile] willbethenight for the water wings and floaties. And using the pool.]

Okay, well originally the plan had been for a night out at the Devil's Nest but when you have the biggest Samba parade in the world going on how can you pass that up?

So Matt and Stacey decided that why not join in the festivities? The sounds, music and dancing was almost overwhelming to Matt's senses. But in a good way.

Alas after the tickets he really had no money for a costume but the grin on his face was pretty festive, right?

Bruce didn't feel much like taking part in the parade tonight, but he still made sure he made an appearance in it with a couple pictures taken so he could always talk about his wild youth in the future.

But after that, he retreated to a nearby rooftop so he would have a good view of the rest of the parade. And if you had to ask how he got up to the roof, you would just get a silent head shake in your direction.

What better thing to do when you're in Brazil than eat a lot of meat (http://www.porcao.com.br/porcaoSite/home/home.php)? Really now, this was Tony having an active vacation that didn't completely involve him being glued to his laptop.

Which was good.

"Wow. That... is a lot of food," Tony said, going for the understatement of the year.

Luke's old age actually paid off in Brazil. He could drink freely in the bars and he planned on doing that a lot. He figured it'd help him fall asleep right away when he eventually got back to his room.

Bobby had just spent two days trapped in Emma Frost's body. Going out on his own to get completely smashed was a totally healthy way to deal with that. Really.

After the parade, Seifer let a couple of local dancers drag him over to Cosmopolitan for more dancing and drinking.

Still the Best. Vacation. Ever.

Jaye had figured it couldn't hurt to actually get out for a while. Of course she had to pick the bar where "The Girl from Ipanema" was written and the second she found that out the song crawled into har ear and burrowed into her brain like a parasite.

As if that wasn't enough, she'd just been hanging out, minding her own business when the guy in the sports jersey (really? couldn't class it up at all?) had his chest start talking to her with a "Free me."

...A few minutes later she learned that did not mean she was supposed to try and get the guy's shirt off. Even if it was out of place here.
