Spa at the Monastery, St. John's, Newfoundland & Labrador, Wednesday Morning & Afternoon

Morning saw yet another temperature drop, though it would warm to roughly yesterday's temperatures as the day went on. Rain had left a wet sheen on the area, but it had since made way for simple clouds. If you were lucky, you might even catch sight of the sun eventually.

The hotel's facilities were still available for anyone who wanted to use them, including those staying in and avoiding the Habitat for Humanity build. Though if you were planning to get your chest waxed, we really recommend the build instead.

Day two, and Peter... was still in his room. Working.

Why, no, he hadn't been out. The rest of the school could be out trying to save a few families from homelessness or something-- he was trying to keep the whole world from edging back towards all-out war.

Well, shit.

But some guys do? Topher asked hopefully.

He was starting to get the feeling that he had been tricked.

Bundles of brainless muscles and vacuous actors, sure, Peter said, But I'm not exactly dying to join their ranks. Why?

You know what they say about lying, Topher, Peter wrote. And wasting my time.

He was taking time off from writing to an informant in the Hegemony to deal with your stupid wax-related problems, Topher. Appreciate it.

It's possible that I may have done that.

The waxing thing, he added a moment later. To clarify.

One, I DON'T want to know. Two... Tony?

What about legs? Do guys wax those? Because Tony had.

Why was Peter wasting time on these questions?

Well, he knew some. But they were unlikely to answer this for him.

And Peter was trying to focus on politics, which was ten times harder than rocket science. Dammit.

Oh, right, Kenzi was one of those.

But!

She threw out my robots, Topher complained. Granted, they had been wires and blocks of metal at the time, but they were robots in progress! Robot fetuses! And now they were dead!

So build new robots, Peter said, while privately congratulating himself for not winding up stuck with Topher for a roommate. You're a mechanical genius, shouldn't be too hard.

"I thought you were going to help," Scully said, as she came back after lunch to get her camera to and head for the GeoCentre.

She's judging you, Peter. Judging you hard.

There were a lot of reasons why Peter would have loved to point out he was doing much more than just helping, you stupid woman.

Unfortunately, he couldn't.

"Sorry," he said, instead. "My workload's turning out to be bigger than I thought."

Yeah, she wouldn't have found any of that reassuring.

"Mmmm." Scully looked for a digital card and looked over at his desk area. "What are you working on?"

"Just some prep work for college my parents have been sending me," Peter said, making sure he wasn't pointing overly at his screen. "They think Fandom's a good place for me, but they're a little worried about the light courseload."

"Understandably," Scully said, her tone ultra-dry. She started loading and checking her camera. "We have classes in how not to be evil, which, if you need the class, it's already too late." She took a shot of the hot tub, then nodded to herself. "You can always take distance courses. That's what I'm doing. Although at this rate I'll graduate college at the same time I graduate high school."

"I'm doing that," Peter promised. "And mom and dad are having the local college send a few things. The downfall of having a former college grad student for a mother."

Though how she'd ever manage that, he'd never know.

"It's good that they care. But aren't dictating." Scully paused while picking up her purse. "I assume they're not. Or expecting you to go to medical or something like that."

"Oh, no, they just want me to have a good academic foundation," Peter bullshitted. "They're worried for my future. Parents, right?"

"Mmmmm. Parents." Scully couldn't have put a finger on what it was about Peter that had her going 'hmmm'. Maybe the parents, right? that was contradicted by his own investment in his homework. But. Her own 'normalcy' wasn't all that normal, so... "I'll be back around dinner. Enjoy your studies."

"I will," Peter assured her. "Enjoy the city!"
