Kellerman's Resort, Tuesday Morning and Afternoon, October 13th

The weather at Kellerman's continued to be favourable, as the autumn sun shone down on the fields and streams of the area. The staff of the resort were busy but happy to help, bustling through the corridors and courtyard.

The boards outside were advertising a white water rafting trip today, for anyone willing to go out and risk the rapids; for the less adventurous, a trip to see the Cascade Falls might just do the trick.

Having enjoyed the swim in the pool a few days ago, Jonas was back there again, a little more certain this time. He slipped in but kept to the shallow end, wading slowly.

He cupped a handful of water with his hands and splashed it on his face and hair before shaking it off and out, enjoying the slow drops of water that he could see falling from his nose and eyelashes.

While he knew the answer to the question, Jonas really couldn't see why swimming hadn't been more prevalent in the Community. It was fun and relaxing and fascinating.

Sookie watched his behavior for a minute from her chaise lounge, and called out, "Are pools a new thing for you, Jonas?"

Maybe he was from like, England. They probably didn't have a lot of those.

"Hello, Sookie," he said, wading a little closer to her and nodding. "And yes. I knew you could swim in natural bodies of water but I wasn't aware of man made facilities that let you do the same thing. The water is very warm and it's...different from the water in the streams."

"It's got chlorine," she offered, getting up to go sit at the edge of the pool. "That's why it smells different from natural water. It keeps it clean."

"Chlorine?" he asked, cupping a handful of the water and peering at it. "Is that...an animal?"

It was the best guess he had since streams and lakes had fish so maybe this was a different animal?

She tried not to giggle at him, because it was an innocent enough question. "No, honey, it's a chemical. It makes the water clean, and that's why it smells funny. And it'll turn my hair green if I stay in it too long, but that only happens to blonds."

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] see-beyond.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 04:17 pm (UTC)(link)
"Chemical," he repeated, letting the water run over his hands again. "It's safe, though?"

It was probably too late to really think about that considering he was in the pool and all.

"It's safe," she promised reassuringly. "Just don't drink too much or you'll get sick."

"I wasn't planning on doing that," he promised, splashing some water away from her with his hands and watching it with barely controlled glee. "These sort of places are fairly common? Do a lot of people not swim in lakes and rivers?"

Kelly had like totes painted her nails before they left, omigod, but she still totally hit up the spa for a mani-pedi. 'Cause she was on vacation, okay? And thus, she was also annoying the manicurist by reading aloud from Cosmo.

Sookie hadn't hit the pool the past couple days, and while she wasn't the strongest swimmer, and it was an indoor pool, she still periodically splashed around in the water or else lounged in a chair with a trashy book.

She didn't have her usual sunglasses, though.

Alex decided to spend part of her morning in the hot tub. She might hit up the spa after that. For now, she was content to just relax and not think about anything.

Dinah was making up for lack of her usual workout by doing more laps; and planning on hitting the hot tub afterward. She dove into the water quickly, and then started her stroke, quick and clean.

After some time out hiking, Clark thought a quick dip in the pool would be just the thing. Not taking advantage of an indoor pool would have been wrong.

Just because Dinah was getting pretty attached to Jak didn't mean she was dead. This was the same guy she'd tried to point Morgana toward at the welcome picnic. Maybe she could still do that. But later. "Hey." She grinned at him as she swam up alongside him. "Race you?"

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"Race?" Clark gave her a surprised look. "I dunno if that's a good idea..." Mainly because he'd have to choose if he should win or not.

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah's eyebrows went up, and she grinned at him. "Why? You don't swim much? C'mon, winner can buy ice cream or drinks. Your pick of what you want."

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Clark laughed, not used to forward women whose names didn't rhyme with sauna. "Are you kidding? I swim all the time, just don't want to get a reputation as the guy who beats girls in swim races."

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 06:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Dinah was all about the forward momentum, even if it was just for fun. "Or you can get a rep as the guy who's willing to chance getting beaten by a girl," she teased. "I swear I'm not a sore loser. And you look--" Well, like a swimsuit model, but let's not embarass the guy that much. "-- like a challenge. Pleeeeas? Don't make me beg, guy."

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
He flushed a little at the thought of people looking, but he wasn't too embarrassed overall. "Okay, no begging. From here to the other side and back?"

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes!" Awww, that was so cute! No wonder people laughed when she blushed. Dinah just grinned, and grabbed the edge of the pool, one arm already out. "Ready... set... NOW!"

And dove forward as fast as she could, kicking for all she was worth.

Re: Indoor Activities

[identity profile] redandblueblur.livejournal.com 2009-10-13 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Woah!" Clark dove after her, holding back from really kicking just enough to be right at her side as he tore through the water.

First thing Effy was going to do with her day, was wake herself up with a decent swim. She hadn't done anything like that, really, since her last trip out to the water park back in Bristol.

A couple of moments considering the water, and she dived in at the deep end, and would be spending the next little while floating lazily on the water. Way to make a morning.

Lois was here rly wasn't about to let a day go by without spending some time at the pool. She tended to forget that there was a pool at the school. Mostly because getting there involved a lot of stairs.

Yeah, this pool was a lot easier to get to.
