The Crown Princess - Monday [Ship/Princess Cays, Bahamas]

Early in the morning, the cruise director came over the loudspeaker announcing the port of the day and some on-boat activities of interest. Those paying attention would learn that from 9am until 5pm, the Crown Princess would be docked in the lovely Princess Cays, Bahamas where guests were welcome to participate in glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, or beach excursions for a portion of the day. Adults were encouraged toward the Sanctuary on the Sun Deck for a more private way to relax away from the teens.

[OOC: The Princess Bridge Cam is fantastic. Cabins Post | Star Deck | Sun Deck | Promenade Deck | Cays Cruise | Snorkeling | Beach]

Watching the fish was really kind of relaxing once you got into it, and Angela was perfectly happy to spend some time floating near the surface, watching them dart in and out of the coral.

Attempts at skindiving were for when she was feeling a little extra adventurous later.

Snorkeling meant spending time in the water, as well as indulging your curiosity. Ender welcomed the exercise, the almost-weightlessness, and the colourful patterns that weaved their way through the water. Sometimes, he'd follow them, become all caught up in a vast torrent of fish. Sometimes, he'd let them drift on by, searching through the empty ocean.

He could even muster up some wonder. It seemed more simple than people, and he welcomed it.

Ben drifted past and gave him a small wave.

Ender caught the movement from the corner of his eyes, and tilted back a little bit so he could both see Ben and return it, his hand splashing against the water.

Ben rotated his fingers in the water and sent out a quick little probe with the Force towards the fish. He didn't have Jacen's gift with animals, but the invitation was enough for several brightly colored ones to turn towards Ender.

Ender's eyebrows raised, but it was hard to tell behind the goggles. A little, childish part of him touched on wonder again. He let it go, twisting sideways just a bit to let the fish pass by him.

He signed a question mark. He figured Ben would get it.

During a vacation to a place he might never seen again, Gavin didn't really just wanna lay around. So, after getting onto the island, he found his way to the snorkeling cruise, enjoyed the cruise over and then dove in so he could swim around.

He'd grown up in the desert. He never ever imagined he'd be swimming with the fish.

Feeling pretty capable with this snorkeling thing, John swam in Gavin's direction, mentally humming the Jaws theme as he swatted at his friend's foot.

Gavin, having not heard John come up behind him, twisted sharply in the water in case some eel had him and then popped up and glared at John.

"Jackass!"

John popped out of the water with a grin. "It's a great day, isn't it?"

"You trying to eat my foot or something?" Gavin asked, pushing his goggles up on top of his head.

Anemone drifted happily, content to let the fish play hide-and-seek in her hair as she watched them.

If she appeared extra-solicitous of the coral reef, and if some of its inhabitants seemed quite fond of her, well, anyone who asked would just get a bright smile.

She was Coralian. It was kinda like a family reunion of sorts.

Robin, sans snorkel swam up, waving happily.

Anemone smiled and waved, momentarily distracted from the fish by Robin's lack of snorkel. Oooo... lucky.

[identity profile] robinthefrog.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
One of the fish, apparently curious about this new arrival swam up close to Robin and darted around, trying to get a better look at him.

Robin giggled, the sound sounding strange underwater.

Muppet frogs can not only sing, but sing underwater. Which was why anyone underwater would be treated to a rendition (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZqXspiN-lg) of Octopuss' Garden.

Robin had made some new friends.

Savannah had learned to snorkel over Christmas vacation, so you can guess that she was definitely taking advantage of the chance to do it again. She loved floating there and watching everything going on beneath the water.

Johnny sidled up close, nudging her and pointing at a particularly colorful fish. This was so awesome.

Savannah's eyes were full of delight as they watched the fish. She grabbed his ram to point out a vivid blue one swimming among the coral.

He nodded, seeing it. Johnny would so have a tank of colorful fish if he could.

Lion-o wasted no time getting into the water. The reef was amazing and an hour just wouldn't be enough.

It took Tony a few minutes to get comfortable using the snorkel, but once he did - wow. He felt he could stay down there watching the fish forever.

Kaylee was not what one might call a "good swimmer."

However, she was good enough to float around on the surface and stare in wonder at all the lovely, colorful little fishies.
