Banyan Tree Resort, Friday [Evening]

The temperature was holding at a not-so-chilly 27 degrees celsius (or eighty degrees fahrenheit for some of you). As night fell, a few clouds formed in the sky, but so far they seemed to be drifting past peacefully, releasing no unpleasant showers on the resort.

Nightfall meant the bars were open and booming, but there was plenty to do elsewhere, too!

Villa 128 | [12/10: Night]

For the record, Natalie had actually been outside the villa, too. That did not negate the fact that she was there right now. But hey, she'd actually done the vacation thing, and hung out in her bikini (yes, she owned one, shock)! Even if it had been just on the veranda.

And by now, she'd pulled her kimono-ish robe on over the swimwear but still. Vacationing! At least if you ignored how she'd just finished up Peter's translations and focused on how she was leaning back in her chair with a sigh and looking at the view.

It was entirely possible that Jono was one of the very small number of people at the pool who had absolutely no intentions of getting into it. In fact, he was fully clothed, even in a tropical bloody paradise, with his jacket with the tall collar obscuring the bottom of his face and everything.

Odds are, he wasn't going to stay that way. Not if he was intending to actually carry through with the plans he'd made to spend dinnertime with April. A man could only live on room service for so long while on vacation, even if he was hell-bent on becoming some sort of giant grey tropical hermit or something.

"Shall we start with drinks tonight, luv?"

There was a bar, after all.

[identity profile] hatesmoststuff.livejournal.com 2012-10-12 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, April didn't particularly want to swim either. So far, the closest she'd gotten to the pool was a chair in the shade, where she'd napped all day yesterday and the day before. Mmm, naps.

"Always a solid plan," she decided. Starting with anything besides booze would be ridiculous, after all. What would be the point? "Something that isn't scary colorful, though. And no umbrellas."

"I was going to just ask what sort of lager they carried," Jono shared, because he was predictable, thank you. "I'm not exactly a fan of the tiny drink umbrellas myself, you know."

... It would be kind of hilarious if he was, really.

"Really?" Oh, April believed him, she was just giving him a hard time. As Aprils did. "I don't know, you seem like a Cosmo guy."

Olive was happy enough to just quiiiietly chill out tonight by the pool. She had a book, she had an iPod, she had a cute swimsuit (http://www.everythingbutwater.com/swimwear/browse/products/seafolly/pinup/45987+30070-385+175.html), and at night there was no danger she'd burn to a crisp.

She was going to be severely depressed when they went back to Fandom. Severely. Fling-herself-down-on-the-couch-face-first depressed, maybe.

Jim figured that the night was young and he could head to a bar a little later. Right now, he couldn't resist the allure of the pool even if the sun was going down. He was still gonna swim and, after that was all said and done, he was gonna grab some food from the bar and sprawl in one of the loungers.

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
"So," Olive greeted him, carrying her book and towel over to a lounger near Jim's, "I'm pretty sure this is the greatest vacation in the history of vacations. I could do a paper on it and empirically prove this."
pursuedthestars: ([neu] hey there)

[personal profile] pursuedthestars 2012-10-13 10:31 am (UTC)(link)
"That's quite the endorsement for this vacation," Jim answered, glancing over at her. "See, now you're never gonna be able to have fun on any other vacation because you're gonna be trying to measure it according to this one. You've just ruined all future vacations, Egg."

[Oh wow, I am so sorry I missed this. I passed out hardcore last night.]

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-10-13 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe they can improve upon this one and build towards its perfection," Olive replied. "It will serve as a shining example of the glory that came before."

[no worries omg I figured that was what happened!]

Level 3 Bar [12/10: Night]

[personal profile] suitably_heroic 2012-10-12 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Funnily enough, the events of this morning had... prompted Atton to run away real hard. Run away straight into the arms of some other pub where at least he was sure people wouldn't purposefully come find him.

He ordered some booze with his fake ID and tried not to think too much about how little cash he had left.

He retreated to a corner and sat there, sipping his drink. He'd run to another universe; apparently he hadn't run hard enough. Or far enough. Maybe he should pick up his things and actually become his fake ID-- Eric Sykes from some place called New England - settle down here and let every portal close behind him until his own universe just forgot about him.

Or something.

Atton was just going to sit here and be moody and keep drinking until he forgot his old name, and, if he was lucky, his new name too.

Okay Jace wasn't really into the whole pirates-are-cool thing, but he had to admit this bar was entertaining. And there was grog! He didn't know what grog was but it tasted good.

Once again, Prof Tomoe had tried to avoid the sun and headed for the bar. All these beautiful African days were slowly turning him a nice tanned brown, and it was bothering him to no end. It was hard to be imposing mad scientist without the deathly pallor to go along with it. People might start expecting him to leave the lab and do thing outside.

So, there he was, in a pirate-themed bar with a bottle of imported shochu. He'd noticed that a couple of the students were in the bar as well, but off the teaching clock, the couldn't care less about what the students did.

Jonothon made his way into the bar later that night, with a look on his face that could possibly be best described as 'too much whipped cream.'

There had been girly drinks by the pool. Jono was very much not equipped for girly drinks by the pool.

"Hey, mate. Enjoying the vacation so far?"

He hadn't really had an opportunity to do much speaking to his Africa-roommate since vacation had started, and noticing him here at the bar meant, well, he might as well at least strike up a conversation.

Prof Tomoe shrugged and took another drink of shochu.

"I don't usually spend this much time outdoors. It's rather ... unnerving to not have an underground lair to escape to."

But the massage that morning had worked out most of the tension in his back, so at least he felt much more relaxed than he had the rest of the week.

"And yourself?" he asked. "How are you enjoying this sunny sojourn to Africa?"

Considering Jonothon's idea of ideal bedroom space had generally been 'taking over a dank basement in the academy,' once upon a time, he could really relate.

"Plenty of time to catch up on sleep, mostly," he admitted. "Saved one student from being devoured by a leopard the other day, so at least I suppose I can say it was a productive vacation thus far. I'm not really big on sunshine myself, these days, though."

"That does sound interesting. I would have liked to have seen the leopard."

Notice he said nothing about saving the student.

He raised his glass of shochu. "To a mutual hatred of sunshine. Can I get you anything? They have a remarkably good selection of drinks here."
