Banyan Tree Resort, Friday [Evening]

The temperature was holding at a not-so-chilly 27 degrees celsius (or eighty degrees fahrenheit for some of you). As night fell, a few clouds formed in the sky, but so far they seemed to be drifting past peacefully, releasing no unpleasant showers on the resort.

Nightfall meant the bars were open and booming, but there was plenty to do elsewhere, too!

She didn't mind telling him that much.

"You get pretty?" Jim repeated, wondering if she'd elaborate. "And what do you do after you get pretty? Go out and get crazy?"

"Kind of," Olive said, shrugging. "I get as hot as I know how. Usually makes me feel better. Making girls jealous and boys trip over dicks tongues cheers me up."

"Oooh, so you get evil when you're upset," Jim said approvingly. "I like that. And here I thought you were all good and pure. This is the one time I am glad to see I was wrong. I wanna see this evil side."

"I don't think you will," Olive noted, shaking her head. "Evil Olive's long gone. Remember? It's all Good Girl Olive from here on out."

"I will never believe it," Jim told her, shaking his head. "No one, not even you, Egg, can be consistently good. That evil side's lurking, just waiting to come out and it will. And I will be around to make sure I am a witness to it though I'd rather be involved. I love evil."

"You?" Olive adopted an exaggerated eye-raise. "I never would've guessed."

"Then, I haven't been doing my job!" Jim said, gasping. "What did you think I was? All cute and sweet? Gross."

"Innocent, even," Olive noted. "Maybe virginal."

"Only when I wanna be," Jim said in response to the first one. To the second, he chuckled lightly. "Yeah, I'm waiting for the right girl and marriage to come along before I do that. I am that pure and virginal, Olive. I haven't even kissed a girl yet."

"It's okay, James," Olive said placatingly, reaching out to pat his arm. "I was also once awkward and young and unkissed like you. Your moment in the sun will come!"

"You're such a comfort," he said, shaking his head. "However did you overcome such obvious deficiencies?"

"You'd have to ask those who chose to see past them," Olive said, clutching a hand to her heart. "I mean, I'm not kissing myself over here."

"You sound like you're trying not to brag but you want to brag so you want me to ask," Jim said observantly.

"Well, I'm still awkward and all you have to do to take care of the 'young' part is, you know, age, so that seemed like the easiest one to hone in on," Olive noted, making a face at him. "So. You know. Besides, what would I brag about?"

She was maybe still a little extra-aware about the fact that theoretically everyone at that party had seen her and Victor, so. Maybe Jim'd missed it? She could hope.

"I don't know, what would you have to brag about?" Jim asked, turning the question around on her. "I know it can't be your way with words since that was just the opposite of smooth right there."

"I don't brag," Olive replied, sniffing and tossing her hair. "It's unbecoming."

That was a non-answer.

"No, it's not. Bragging's healthy," Jim told her, shaking his head. "It boosts your ego and makes everyone envious. That's awesome. Also, you're avoiding the question and it's adorable."

Olive rolled her eyes at him. "I'm a lady. I don't kiss and tell. I just...make out with people in front of an entire party of people I invited. But still." She gestured to herself. "Lady."

"You are not a lady," he laughed, shaking his head. "You can tell me that all you want but I will never believe you. Especially not now, Egg. Making out in front of a room full of people? That's something I'd do!"

"Whatever, it was romantic," Olive declared. "Not my fault your drunk ass was still hanging around. And...everyone else's drunk ass. And it might be my fault."

It was definitely her fault.

"I might have been drunk but I was still adorable. And I made sure I had an escort back to my room."

Sure, it was Karolina and it had been just an escort but still, it'd been fun.

"Besides, you invited my drunk ass, Egg. You wanted me there."

"You were one of the ones I invited," Olive agreed. "Who was the escort?"

"Karolina," he replied. "And she was a very capable escort. I didn't end up passed out in the sand or in a lion's mouth anywhere."

"We did swear an oath to each other that we'd designate-walk people," Olive noted. "Good to hear she followed through since I...totally forgot about that. I'll give my roomie a high-five for delivering you home safely."
