That was enough to get Karla out of bed, at least. Reaching for her suitcase, she opened it up, pulling out her clothing.

Blue, blue, green, blue, long skirt, long skirt, blue, blue, silver, blue, long skirt...

"Mine looks all right," she said with a relieved sigh.

"Why did only my clothing change?" Raven said. "This is not fair. I cannot wear these clothes!"

Well, she could, she was just too horrified to do so.

"I'd offer to loan you mine, but..."

Raven and Karla did not wear the same size. Not at all. In anything.

"Maybe they have something suitable in one of the stores?" she suggested. "You could wear something just long enough to see?"

Because Hawaii was known for its affection for black.

Raven would totally stretch out all of Karla's shirts. Damn her comic book rack!

"I will have to check," she said, nodding. Though she already had a bad feeling the island didn't cater to the goth crowd.

"At least most people are wearing clothes like this?" Karla offered.

Not her, of course. She wouldn't be caught dead in stuff like that. But most people!

"So I don't think anyone will really notice."

Except, oh...anyone who knew Raven, say.

"You are just saying that to make me feel better," Raven sulked, crossing her arms and giving Karla a Terribly Wounded look. Surely she had to realize what a Serious Matter this was. Couldn't she hear all the capital letters?

Karla used capital letters to talk about the Preserve and her jewelry. By this point, she was immune.

"Am I supposed to be saying things to make you feel worse?" Karla asked. "I mean, I could--" ORANGE. CLOTHING. "--but I didn't think that would be helpful."

"That would be mean," Raven pouted. "I have a date with Jono tonight. I cannot wear one of these dresses. If I cannot find suitable clothing to purchase today, what am I going to do?"

"Wear something unsuitable would be my guess." It was still too early for Karla to be properly sympathetic. Compassion was found at the bottom of her first carafe of coffee. "And if this clothing fits of you the way it does on Sookie, I'm pretty sure Jono's not going to notice the bright colors."

Well, no. They were awfully bright.

"Much."

This was a Disaster. She was finally going to get to do something happy and special with Jono and her clothes were ruined. Raven was in sore need of a great deal of sympathy now.

"You should wear it, then," she sighed. She balled up one of the dresses and tossed it at Karla. She meant for it to land on the bed next to her, not, well, square in her face or anything.

"Hey!" Karla protested, pulling the shirt off her head. "I'm trying to be sympathetic here! But come on! You can go a single day in something that's not black, you know! It's not like it's going to ki--" okay, yeah, still too soon for jokes about dying "--cause you to burst into flame!"

That was...better?

Either way, Karla was using the elastic in the collar to fling the dress back at Raven. Too bad her less-than-awesome slingshot skills sent it flying directly at Raven's chest...

Bursting into flame probably wasn't terribly much better, but fortunately Raven was far too distracted by her clothing issues to latch on to that and emo at all.

"It is not just any day, it is a date," Raven said before the dress was tugged into the gravitational pull of her chest.

"I did not mean to hit you!" she protested, yanking the dress off. "That was an accident." Really, so was the fact that she was reaching out for something else to toss back at Karla, which just happened to be a pillow.

"Right! So it just happened to come flying and hit me in the--oof!"

Hello, pillow to the face. "Was this an accident, too?" she growled, shaking the pillow back as Raven. "In that case, so's this!"

The pillow went sailing back towards Raven, followed by the one from Karla's bed, too.

"Darkness forbid you're not wearing black for a date!"

"Jono likes black, and so do I!" Raven protested, ducking one pillow but getting smacked in the head with the other. She flung it back at Karla but kept the first one she'd thrown, not wanting to give up her weapon.

She should have been protesting such behavior as mock violence and against the rules of Azarath. But Azarath and all its people were gone now, and she'd already worked herself up into a tizzy of near-hysteria about her clothes. It was important, dammit.

Karla tried to dodge, but got tangled up in the blankets on her bed and caught the pillow with her side. Awesome.

"I like blue, but that doesn't mean I pretend other colors don't exist!" she snapped, grabbing onto the pillow. But she couldn't throw it if Raven kept hers...

Eyes lighting on Raven's suitcase, Karla used Craft to sweep them all up and dump them on Raven's head. "Is giving color a chance too much to ask?!"

Well, those colors? Yeah, kinda. But her point remained.

"Colors can be fine but not on me," Raven said, shielding her head with her pillow as brightly colored dresses rained down upon her. Fine, if Karla was going to use her powers....

She manifested her Soul-Self, flicking one wing at the pile of clothes to send them flying back at Karla.

Karla ducked down between the beds to avoid the volley. "Oh, right, because you're some kind of tragic princess? Mother Night, Raven! Of everything that's happened just this year, colorful dresses are hardly the most terrible!"

And then she was leaping up and across Raven's bed to whack her with a pillow but good.

It was on!

The colorful dresses were now and an immediate concern!

And so was Karla diving at her with the pillow. Raven shrieked, trying to turn to dodge the blow, but only ended up getting clocked in the side of the head. She raised her own pillow up to bring it down on Karla's head. Take that!

Karla yelped in surprise. Even with everything else she'd done, Karla hadn't expected Raven to actually hit her back.

Raven. The sworn pacifist. Moved to violence over brightly-colored clothing. The situation was completely absurd. All Karla could do was laugh at it.

Well, and try to wallop Raven again. But that was a given.

She was distraught! She wasn't herself!

Well, and she knew that the pillow wouldn't really hurt Karla.

And, of course, it actually felt surprisingly good to be giggling and dodging and swatting at Karla with her pillow. Even as it started to tear and rain feathers down around them.

"Oh, the trials!" Karla said, between giggles, still flailing at Raven with the pillow. "The tribulations!" Thwap! "Oh, the humaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanity!"

They were so going to have to pay for the deposit on the room.

"Oh, the--" she inhaled a feather and started coughing a bit, which just made her laugh harder.

"You would be upset, too, if it were your clothes and you had a date tonight!" Raven accused, laughing and not at all denying her inner drama queen.

Had it been mentioned that Raven had been in the process of getting dressed when Karla had woken up, so she was currently only wearing her bra and panties? Which were black, of course. AS THEY SHOULD BE.

Whereas Karla was still dressed in her white nightgown--a slightly more abbreviated version of the type she usually wore in Fandom, in deference to the heat. They looked like two sides of a morality play, especially with the feathers in the air. ~~A sexy, sexy morality play.~~

"Woe is you," Karla deadpanned, sitting down on the edge of the bed to laugh. "Isn't this like one of your Rumor Gal storylines? To have an important date and nothing to wear?" She eyed Raven with a grin. "If you're really set on black, you can always wear what you've got on now."

YOU ARE WELCOME, JONO.

Raven flopped down on the bed, panting. Sexily.

"We are going up a mountain," she said. "If we were staying in, perhaps, but I would not let just anyone see me like this!" She blushed and held the deflated pillow to her chest.

Yeah. The deflated pillow wasn't doing a whole lot to hide. Raven had a significant amount of chest.

...Stupid comic books.

"You've got a cloak," Karla pointed out. "And are you going to actually climb the mountain? Or just teleport up there?"

If they were going to climb, Karla was going to have to suggest sensible footwear at the very least.

"And if you want to make Jono happy with that you're wearing, that would be it."
