Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

It took a minute for the number to sink in. Raven stared, confused. "You called yourself!" she accused.

"Of course!" Karla said as if she hadn't just spent the last ten minutes trying to convince Raven otherwise. "To have called Jono would have been dreadfully mean. Just what kind of person do you take me for?"

Raven flopped on to her back on the floor with a groan of relief. "You are very mean, Karla," she said, though not angrily. "Perhaps one day I will have to do something similar to you."

"You loved it," Karla said smugly, just laying back and remembering how to breath freely again. "Most fun you've had in weeks."

Raven grabbed a handful of feathers and threw them at Karla. "Yes," she admitted. "It was fun."

"So you gonna wear that tonight then?" Karla asked, blowing at the feathers to keep them from landing on her face. "I'm pretty sure that's what we agreed to."

"I will wear it under a dress," Raven said primly.

She eyed one of the sundresses suspiciously. "Though I am not certain I can even wear a bra with that."

"Ha!" Karla said, pleased. "I never have to wear a bra if I don't want to."

Raven crossed her arm over her chest and made a face at Karla. "I will be worried all night about what happens if the strap comes undone," she said.

It wasn't like Jono hadn't seen them before, but they would be in public.

"I could shield the knot with Craft?" Karla offered, relenting a bit. "It won't come undone until I remove the magic, though."

She gave Raven a bratty grin and waggled her eyebrows. "Think carefully before you agree. That could be a real pain in the ass the other way, too."

"I would not wish to undo it until I returned to our room," Raven said.

Well, she might wish to, but she doubted it would be necessary. Besides, while she missed physical contact with Jono, she had the slight problem of, oh, being a virgin again, so she wasn't planning on trying to drag him to bed immediately.

And if something did happen, well, the dress didn't have to be untied to be removed.

"Well, when you figure out what dress you want to wear, I'll put a shield around the knot," Karla promised. "I used to do the same thing to Morton's clothes. But that was too be a pain in his ass, not helpful."

"Hey!" Karla protested. "I'm being helpful this time. I put a shield around the knot, you can rest easy that it won't come undone until I undress you you want it to."

"I would appreciate that," Raven decided, sitting up to dig into the dresses splayed around them. "It would make me less anxious, I think."

She didn't need the added worry of flashing a large group of tourists, thank you very much.

"I'm glad to do what I can to mitigate your horror of wearing something with color," Karla said with mock-solemnity.

She looked around the room. Her pillow was on top of the bureau and looking sadly deflated, her blankets were puddled on the floor, the sheets were half off the mattress, and there were dresses and feathers strewn about everywhere.

"I'm never getting back to sleep," she said sadly.

Raven pushed herself up to her knees and looked around. "I will help you fix your bed," she said. "And then I can help you relax so you may sleep some more, if you wish."

And she'd get her color-clothing-tantruming ass out of the room.

Karla looked around again and shook her head. "Nah, I think I'll just move up my 'early-afternoon nap on the beach' to make it a 'mid-morning nap on the beach' and call it good. Though we should probably call housekeeping about new pillows." She winked at Raven. "Pacifist."

Raven's cheeks flushed red. "I am sorry, I do not know what came over me," she said. She'd been moved to violence.

Karla laughed, slinging a companionable arm around Raven's shoulder. "It's fine, darling. I don't know if you noticed, but I was doing a lot more laughing than cowering in fear or anything. It was fun no one got hurt."

Well, except the pillows.

"It was an interesting release of emotions," Raven noted, leaning into Karla. "Perhaps I have a new understanding now of why mock-violence appeals to some people."

"It's a rush," Karla said. "And a release. And as long as we keep it to pillows, it's safe." She shot Raven a smile. "You know you want to do it again sometime."
