Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Morning & Afternoon | Tuesday | February 22nd

Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

"And all of those things I listed are what make me me so technically I was right," he pointed out, stomping a foot down in the sand because it gave him something to do.

"Really, though, let me ask you something," he said, trying to turn the tables on her now. "You make it all sound so easy. You kiss me for being me. Does it make sense in your head? Do you even understand this...thing?"

Here, he was honestly curious because she kept bitching about his stupidity and idiocy but he couldn't see how it could be that easy. They never did things easily.

"No, because if even you seem to think I should be kissing other people then there is clearly something wrong with this picture," Caroline told him before taking a big swig of blood.

"And come on, I can't even kiss you without it starting an argument!" And now that she was drinking there would be no kissing.

Great, she was taking his jealous bitching seriously. And he didn't know how to correct her without making it obvious that he'd been jealously bitching. It was an unsolvable dilemma.

"There's nothing wrong with this picture," Nathan said, deciding he'd just go with the idea that required no talking (on his part) at all. "Finish talking, Caroline. I'll show you how easy this can be. Yeah?"

"You think you can show me easy, Nathan?" Caroline looked up at him, doubting his ability even as she set her thermos aside and turned on her side to face him. "Because difficult seems to be the norm here."

"Shhh." Nathan put a finger to his lips because she was still talking and he didn't want to get lectured again. Nathan moved around until he was on his knees and leaned closer to her, letting his lips find the line of her jaw.

This was easy, he thought. And this was affection he didn't give to other people either. Eventually, he'd need to use words with her, he knew, but for now, he was just going to slide his lips up and her jaw towards her cheek.

Caroline's eyes closed at the soft feel of his lips against her cheek. "Even that's not as easy as you think," she pointed out. Mainly because she wished he would kiss her but ugh, he'd probably taste the blood on her and it was so disgusting and wrong and wow was it a good thing her eyes were closed so that he wouldn't see how totally torn she was.

Nathan kind of gave up on getting her to be quiet since it seemed like she had to talk just to be comfortable. That was all right, he could listen.

He moved his lips up near her ear, kissing both earlobe and the shell before finding the spot right behind it and pressing a light kiss there as well.

"Why is this not easy?" he whispered since he was so closer to hear ear. "What's hard right now?"

That wasn't even an innuendo.

For once, Caroline didn't feel like answering out loud, but it seemed like he was expecting her to. "I don't know. Something always happens. You know that as well as I do."

Nathan was trying not to get discouraged or put off by her negativity right now. She seemed to be expecting something to happen, whether it be his attitude or something else, and he was determined to prove her wrong.

"You're thinking too much," Nathan decided, moving his head away from her ear for the moment. That made it easier to cradle her face between his hands and kiss the spot under one of her eyes. "Stop that."

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 03:35 am (UTC)(link)
It was scary, but Nathan was probably right about that. Caroline opened her eyes and looked at him.

"Stop thinking?"

Caroline could hardly stop speaking, let alone thinking. How was she supposed to obsess over things if she had to find a way to shut off her brain without use of the lovely dulling alcohol she so enjoyed on Wednesdays.

"Yes, stop fucking thinking," he said, meeting her gaze with his own. He didn't let go of her face though so that kept them close together. "Is there something you want right now that you're thinking about? Tell me true, Caroline. Don't make me break out my human lie detecting skills."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"You have human lie detecting skills now?" Caroline asked, smiling just a bit as she stayed close, suddenly feeling very aware of where they were and how warm it was. "Think they work on vampires?"

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
"They don't discriminate," Nathan said wisely, nodding. "So yeah, I think they work on everyone. You planning on lying to me for some reason? The question wasn't that hard."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I wanna know more about these skills." Lie detecting was fascinating. "Not that I'm a liar. I'm just an interested party."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
"I can't explain the innate and inherited skills I've got, Caroline," he said, shaking his head. "There aren't any schematics or a manual or any technical shit like that. It's just the way it is."

He nodded, trying not to seem like the liar he was. "I think you should answer my question instead of avoiding it by talking about the skills that make me a superior human being."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"I was not trying to avoid your question," she told him. "There's nothing I want." Not anything that she could have at the moment at least.

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
"There's nothing you want?" Nathan didn't believe that and it probably showed. He shook his head and looked away for a second. "So, you're telling me you're just sitting here, letting me do this, not thinking or wanting anything at all? Do I have it right?"

It sounded like that's what she was trying to get him to think and he just didn't believe it.

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
Caroline rolled her eyes at him. "Um, hello? Did you miss the part where I very clearly liked you...doing all that? I like you kissing me."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, but you don't think it's easy," he pointed out even as he leaned in to resume that kissing. This time, he kissed one corner of her mouth before moving to the other and then up to her forehead, above her eye and near her hairline.

If she liked it, he'd keep doing it even if he still sensed some reluctance or just...uncertainty there. He'd keep doing it though.

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
She did like it, even if he kept trying to ruin it with the questions.

"God, if you're going to harp on it, I guess I should just spit it out and make everything awkward ever." Caroline was perhaps a touch dramatic about these things.

"I was just eating, Nathan," she said, nodding back toward her thermos in the sand. "It's kind of worse than too much garlic, you know?"

Poor Nathan didn't immediately realize what she meant so he looked momentarily confused before putting two and two together. His snacks were so much more flavorful than hers.

"You want me to kiss you, is that it?" Nathan guessed, glancing down at the thermos. "Kiss you properly, I mean. I know, I'm already kissing you, my lips aren't fucking paralyzed."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Caroline shrugged, trying to downplay things. "It doesn't matter. The timing's just bad." So far the two of them always seemed to have something wrong.

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Nathan couldn't stop himself from getting a little frustrated. Yeah, she drank blood, he knew that, and kissing her might be a little weird but man, she just didn't even wanna give him a chance to decide for himself.

"The timing's just bad," he repeated, nodding and sitting back, hands dropping away from her face for the moment. "You know, if I ask you what you want, it means it does matter. Stop with this fucking 'it doesn't matter' shit. Yes, it does."

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Well maybe I would rather avoid seeing you look horrified by me," Caroline pointed out, not getting why he seemed mad at her for this. "I don't exactly take rejection well, okay? But if you just want me to say it anyway, then God help me, yes, I want you to kiss me!"

Re: The Beach

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-23 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Nathan had things to say about all those assumptions she'd just made about what he'd do and wouldn't do. They were on the tip of his tongue but he forced them back.

He leaned back in quickly and kissed her instead, not giving himself time to think about what she'd been drinking or what it was. If he tasted it, he'd deal but good fucking God, it was just nice to hear that she wanted something even if he'd had to pull it out of her.

She'd probably be pleased to know that he didn't kiss her like he was horrified. That had to count for something.
