Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Morning & Afternoon | Tuesday | February 22nd
Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Re: The Beach
This was easy, he thought. And this was affection he didn't give to other people either. Eventually, he'd need to use words with her, he knew, but for now, he was just going to slide his lips up and her jaw towards her cheek.
Re: The Beach
Re: The Beach
He moved his lips up near her ear, kissing both earlobe and the shell before finding the spot right behind it and pressing a light kiss there as well.
"Why is this not easy?" he whispered since he was so closer to hear ear. "What's hard right now?"
That wasn't even an innuendo.

Re: The Beach
"You're thinking too much," Nathan decided, moving his head away from her ear for the moment. That made it easier to cradle her face between his hands and kiss the spot under one of her eyes. "Stop that."
Re: The Beach
"Stop thinking?"
Caroline could hardly stop speaking, let alone thinking. How was she supposed to obsess over things if she had to find a way to shut off her brain without use of the lovely dulling alcohol she so enjoyed on Wednesdays.

He nodded, trying not to seem like the liar he was. "I think you should answer my question instead of avoiding it by talking about the skills that make me a superior human being."
Re: The Beach
Re: The Beach
It sounded like that's what she was trying to get him to think and he just didn't believe it.
Re: The Beach
Re: The Beach
If she liked it, he'd keep doing it even if he still sensed some reluctance or just...uncertainty there. He'd keep doing it though.
Re: The Beach
"God, if you're going to harp on it, I guess I should just spit it out and make everything awkward ever." Caroline was perhaps a touch dramatic about these things.
"I was just eating, Nathan," she said, nodding back toward her thermos in the sand. "It's kind of worse than too much garlic, you know?"
Re: The Beach
"You want me to kiss you, is that it?" Nathan guessed, glancing down at the thermos. "Kiss you properly, I mean. I know, I'm already kissing you, my lips aren't fucking paralyzed."
Re: The Beach
Re: The Beach
"The timing's just bad," he repeated, nodding and sitting back, hands dropping away from her face for the moment. "You know, if I ask you what you want, it means it does matter. Stop with this fucking 'it doesn't matter' shit. Yes, it does."
Re: The Beach
Re: The Beach
He leaned back in quickly and kissed her instead, not giving himself time to think about what she'd been drinking or what it was. If he tasted it, he'd deal but good fucking God, it was just nice to hear that she wanted something even if he'd had to pull it out of her.
She'd probably be pleased to know that he didn't kiss her like he was horrified. That had to count for something.
Re: The Beach
But his lips were on hers and she was reaching her arm around his neck and kissing him back and there was really just no time for thought that went beyond reacting. Sometimes Caroline really just needed to shut her trap and go with these things.
Re: The Beach
And see, she didn't have to deal with any rejection because there weren't many times he was going to reject her. Nathan was already trying to move closer to her even if the sand wasn't making that easy. He wasn't about to fucking move away, not now, not after he'd started kissing her and she was trying to get herself closer to him and he so did not care about the public location or his previous bitchiness.
Re: The Beach
And maybe she was starting to understand his previous bitchiness. If he'd wanted to do this while she'd been with Bod, well, it made sense on some seriously jealous level.
Re: The Beach
Besides, there was plenty of her skin out there for touching and now that Nathan was closer to her, he realized that touching had to happen. Without missing a beat, he'd reached down and trailed his fingers along her stomach, alternating between fingertip stroking and flattening his palm there just because he could.
See, he could do this much better than he could do jealousy. He was so not good at jealousy hence the bitter bitchiness. At least that was gone for the moment. He liked it better that way.
