Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Shame was for the lame. Nathan had known of it and it wasn't like anyone but the group from school knew who they were and even so, Nathan didn't care. It was a fucking vacation and he wanted her so who cared if they were on a beach while they did this? He didn't.

And, if he had cared, it would have gone out the window when she'd found a way around the whole shirt problem. It was only fair that she got to touch skin since he did too so now they were both happier. Well, he was definitely feeling happy right now.

And that meant he was comfortable enough to get his other arm around her waist, fingers sliding up the center of her back just so he could touch all that lovely, soft skin of hers. Oh, there was so much temptation right now. So much.

If only it was literally a fucking vacation. Caroline would've been right on board for that if not for the sand and the dozens of other, lesser people who did not actually deserve to get to watch.

God, she couldn't help thinking how good it felt to have his hands on her back and she pressed her chest against his, trying to decide just how high her hand could go under his shirt before she got frustrated for lack of being able to remove it.

Nathan was seconds from just pulling off his shirt himself. If he'd been asked, he would have used the 'I'm going swimming later' excuse. You know, swimming after he'd detached his lips and body from hers. He had no idea when he'd be ready to do that.

He did pull back for a second though, only so he could get a breath or two before lightly biting her bottom lip and diving right back in for another kiss now that he'd gotten his breathing out of the way. He pressed both hands harder against her back, using that to press her against him and turn him on a little more.

Oh God, and he was biting her and Caroline was kind of desperate to return that bite, but she pulled mere centimeters away to breathe and remember what Stefan had told her about control.

"We should stop," Caroline whispered, her hands under his shirt raking over his back saying something completely different.

"W - what?" Nathan asked, sounding a little confused and a lot out of breath. He didn't want to stop and it didn't feel like she wanted to stop so those three words seemed completely out of place. "Stop?"

"This is good," Caroline assured him, pressing her lips against his again for a moment. "But if we keep going I'm gonna start stripping you on this beach." And let's be honest, no one really wanted to see her attacking him in public.

Even if Caroline usually didn't care about what anyone else wanted.

"Okay," he said, taking a breath to try and calm himself down. God, he hoped his pants were looking too bad right now. That'd take awhile to fucking go down.

"And I want to keep going so don't start reading into me agreeing with you to stop, okay? I want to keep going but...yeah, I get why we should stop. I think America has some fucking strict indecent exposure laws. I don't need to spend a night in a jail, wondering if Big Bertha in the corner's gonna use me as a toilet."

Caroline chuckled, leaning in to kiss his cheek to show how amused she was with his little story, no matter how crass. "My mother would call me home if I ended up in jail and that's a big no thank you," she added. "You wanna hang out with me for a little while? You can stretch out, see if that Irish skin of yours reacts to sunlight. Or, you know, help me with some lotion."

"Yeah, yeah, I wanna stay," he said, nodding a little more decisively since his focus and control was slowly starting to filter in. "My Irish skin can withstand anything, thank you, but I'll be happy to lather you up if I can't get you naked right now."

He'd have preferred the naked but he was more than willing to take what he could get right now.
