Momoko had started the day just spending a bit of time near the lagoon, ~~flirting~~ chatting with the really nice Orchid Beachboys, eventually scheduling a surfing lesson with one of them for Wednesday afternoon.

Which of course, left her the rest of the day for laying on the beach, enjoying the sun in her newest suit.

It was the beach, so of course Jaime was wandering along the sand in his trunks and new sandals. No real plans for the day, just... wandering around.

Momoko was, by now, on her stomach, dozing lightly and not paying attention to anyone who wasn't blocking her from the breeze or kicking sand on her.

She'd go back in the water soon, but for now? Mmmmmm. Warm sun.

Hey, that girl in the bikini had the same color hair as Momoko!

...

Wait. That was Momoko. In a bikini. Don't stare, don't stare, don't stare...

(Reminding yourself of that worked better if you didn't stare while doing so...)

Mmmmm. The scent of the ocean wafted up on a slight breeze and Momoko smiled, lifting her head slightly to breathe it in. How could the sea smell so different here from Fandom? Was it simply being closer to her sorta home islands that it seemed so... familiar?

Fortunately she didn't look over at him before he managed to recover. And snap a quick picture with his phone.

Then Jaime started walking again, letting his feet drag lightly through the sand as he wandered across the beach toward her.

The sound approaching had last time meant sand kicked on her by a toddler, so Momoko her opening her eyes.

Blue crocs? Those looked like the ones she bought for... "Ah! Jaime?" She looked all the way up and smiled happily. "You're wearing your shoes!" He liked them!!

"Yeah." He grinned. "They're pretty comfy."

He grinned down at her (and not just because she looked pretty hot in that bikini). "You look like you're super-relaxed."

"I am! It's a beautiful day so far!" Momoko waved him beside her, setting her head back down on her arms, this time keeping her gaze in his direction, though. "I'm glad the shoes are comfortable. I really did try to find some I thought you'd like, you know. You totally deserved new shoes anyway."

Jaime laughed as he settled down beside her on the sand. It took a little bit of effort to resist the temptation to reach out and brush Momoko's hair. The way the sun glinted off it was really pretty.

"Seriously, thanks. I mean, I didn't mind my old shoes, but I've got to admit that these are nice."

If her hair was ruining her tan line, she would totally appreciate his help?

"When you're used to something, you tend to not notice when it changes." She chuckled. "You basically wore out those poor flip-flops. I bet your feet will feel really good tonight. And I totally would have taken them back if you decided they weren't comfy."

"So how has your day been so far?" She hadn't seen him since she'd ~~snuck out~~ left early that morning.

"Relaxing," Jaime sighed happily. "I slept until, like, nine-thirty."

"How about you?" He settled on poking her lightly in the shoulder rather than actually brushing her hair back. "Looks like you've had a nice relaxing day too."

"Ahh! I've been up for ages! I took an early morning walk, chatted with the Beachboys down by the lagoon (who convinced me to sign up for a surfing lesson tomorrow), found an awesome place I want to try for dinner later, swam a bit, and am now totally hard at work soaking up sunlight!"

She laughed. "Which doesn't sound like it, but has totally been relaxing."

"Surfing lessons?" What Jaime really meant was Beachboys?

"Sounds like fun." So did dinner, actually. At least if Momoko was going, you know...

"Mmm! I hope so? Robin made me think of it last night when we were out stargazing! I've been surfing before, but I'm sure they can give me some pointers." Momoko looked up at him. "Have you surfed before?"

"Nope. There aren't really a lot of beaches in El Paso..." Maybe he should try it... You know, to help keep an eye on the earlier-mentioned Beachboys.

"You should come with me then!" Momoko nodded as if it was all up to her. "It's great fun and if you aren't any good, you just end up in the water! It's totally win-win!"

"Is there any reason I wouldn't be any good?" Jaime asked in amusement.

"Well, you do live in a desert, remember?"

...

"Okay, that's a good point."

"Maybe I'll just be naturally good at it?" Yeah. Right.

"Well that will totally make me sad." Or happy, whatever. "It took me forever to learn and I'm still not good at it." She smiled. "But it is fun. And it's one more way to enjoy the water!"

"Well, as long as you don't totally show me up, I might as well join you, huh?"

She chuckled and looked back out at the ocean again. "I don't know about showing you up? Since I can surf and you can't, though, there's a pretty good chance I'll be laughing a lot tomorrow afternoon."

"How come you always get to laugh at me, and I don't get to laugh at you?" Except for all those times when he did.

"You laugh at me all the time!" Momoko flicked her hand to send some sand at him. "It's you who's totally good at everything ever. I have to enjoy this while I can."
