Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

"What? You were just thinking how your day would be improved by me wandering down the beach in my new shoes and old trunks?" Jaime rolled his eyes, because that was pretty ridiculous.

She raised an eyebrow at him. "Is that you asking me to take you shopping for new swim trunks?"

Jaime rolled his eyes. "You think I'm that subtle?"

"Hmm. No? But I totally can't see you admitting you might want to go shopping, especially for clothes for yourself."

"Then why'd you ask?" Jaime laughed.

"You brought it up, silly, mentioning your 'old trunks'" Momoko took a second to look at him. And his trunks. "They're not too bad, you know. And they look good on you."

"Well, they fit." Which was good enough for Jaime.

Even if he did color a bit at the compliment. Momoko had almost said he looked good there.

"Please tell me that's not how you decide what clothes to wear?" She reached over to push at him, chuckling. "Shoes have to be comfy and clothes have to fit? I don't think you'd last, if we went shopping together."

"Is there a better way to pick them?"

Yes, Jaime. There was.

"There is an entire art to clothes shopping!" She tried an offended look, but her grin wouldn't go away. "Not the least is making sure the clothes make you look good, and not just the hanger. You lucked out today, but I totally fear for the rest of the week."

"Hey! You've seen how I normally dress!"

Yes, Jaime. And you weren't impressing anyone.

"That's that and this is this, Jaime. Vacation is a time to show off." Like Momoko and her bikinis. And yes, she had a different one for each day and maybe a few spares just in case.

In case of what, she didn't know. But!

She rested her head on her arms and smiled at him. "But I'm only teasing. You do look good in those trunks. And even if I like it when you dress up, your normal clothes make you happy and comfortable, and that's the Jaime I like best."

Oh, look, another flush! Lucky for Jaime that his skin wasn't so light as to make it too terribly obvious.

"It's the Jaime I like best, too, you know." Both being comfortable and being liked by Momoko.

She had almost a fetish for seeing him blush, so she totally noticed. Sorry.

But on the plus side, it made her happy?

"Good," she grinned softly, then gave in and admitted: "I'd be so very sad to lose that guy."

Jaime snorted. "Well, I wouldn't worry too much about that if I were you."

Oh, but she did. She was, in fact, thinking about it now, but she shrugged it off, not wanting to ruin the happy mood they had going.

"That's good to hear! Because I bet I could beat that guy at swimming." She gave him an innocent look. "But if you're afraid to lose, we can totally stay here and tan." ... "I could tan and you can sit there and watch."

People watch, she meant, of course.

"Can I watch now and swim later?" What? She'd invited him to, so it was okay!

Of course if Jaime had really been thinking about the situation, he would have reversed the request. That way he could watch wet Momoko! At least until the sun dried her off properly.

"As long as you're not trying to get out of racing me. Or claim that you have heat stroke or something and that's why you lost," she chuckled. "I'm fine with getting more sun. It's totally relaxing, laying here."

"Well, if you're going to be like that, I'm afraid we have to go race right now."

She should have known better than needling him like that.

"Aw. Afraid I'll recharge and power-up while I nap?" She laughed and pushed herself up from her towel, dusting a few grains of sand from her front as she stood.

"Nah. I just think my victory will be all the sweeter so close to your obvious lies about beating me."

She stopped stretching and gave him a look. "Says the boy from the desert to the girl born and raised on an island?"

"Oh, you think it's going to be that easy?" Jaime shifted and planted his hands on his hips. "Bring it, Island Girl."

"Consider it 'brought'!" She couldn't resist grinning and striking her own pose

...before suddenly breaking off and running full tilt towards the water.

Jaime took half a second to yell "Cheater!" after her before taking off in pursuit. Fortunately he had longer legs than she did, so he might be able to catch up.
