Everyone should feel sorry for the poor bastards left behind in Fandom where snow collected atop the ice that coated the ground overnight. But in Hawaii, everything was sunny, warm, and beautiful. It was paradise, and everyone there should take advantage!

Even on vacation, Ender liked his routine. And with his routine came his fitness schedule. So of course he was spending the first few hours of his day on the treadmill and doing various other exercises.

And then going for a swim.

Predictable.

"Fancy seeing you here," Ben teased as he walked into the gym.

"Got to start the day somehow," Ender replied, towel slung over his shoulders. He was one of the lucky few fair-skinned people in this group who tanned rather than burned, which would probably explain why he was still in top shape despite spending a good portion of yesterday outside. "Ho, kreetle."

Ben...freckled.

"I started with a run on the beach," he said. "The sunrise was pretty today."

Early morning freak.

He ~~checked out~~ glanced at Ender's arms. "How is it that you've already tanned? That's so unfair."

"The sun likes me better," Ender said, without missing a beat. "And you know what they say-- early to bed and early to rise..."

"Make a man miss out on the two-for-one shot specials at the bar at night," Ben said.

Not that Ben drank shots of any kind, but he had tried something with booze in it this week, which made him a party animal next to Ender.

"Makes a man stupid and blind in the eyes is the variant I heard," Ender said, easily. Mazer Rackham had an interesting interpretation of how proverbs were supposed to go. "Didn't think you were off doing a lot of shots, though." He tossed his towel over the machine in front of him, getting ready.

"I had one drink at Karla's insistence," Ben replied with a smile. "It was a weird color and had a lot of things in it."

"How many things?" Ender asked, amused, and climbed up on the treadmill. "She mentioned something about sneaking objects into your drink..."

Yes, they'd totally been plotting behind your back, Ben.

"There were probably ten before I caught the bartender adding more to it," Ben said with a laugh. "Should I be worried that two of my best friends are plotting against me?"

"Don't worry," Ender said, jabbing in the settings on the machine, "We only mean you well. Some deluxe ego-deflation, courtesy of your two best friends."

"Do you think they have appropriate thank you gifts for that in the shops?" Ben wondered, heading over to the weights.

"Just don't get balloons," Ender suggested, "We're trying to decrease the amount of hot air, not increase it."

He started jogging.

Ben snorted. "I'd been thinking more in the way of a lei."

"Because that's what we need. More leis," Ender sighed. "So Karla can make more puns."

"She told me all about deflowering you," Ben said, trying not to smirk and almost succeeding.

"She was lying," Ender said, with a snort, "I didn't let them put a lei on me."

"Did you fake a flower allergy?" he asked.

"I limit my amateur theatrics to Shakespeare, Skywalker," Ender informed him. "Not everything has to be big and over the top."

"But sometimes it's fun," Ben replied, starting to do leg reps. "How did you get out of the flowers?"

"I know it's hard to comprehend, but sometimes people respond to this thing called 'asking'."

Well, if combined by looking a little disturbed... Ender pushed through with his running program, picking up some speed.

"It seemed to be customary," Ben said with a little shrug. "There's no harm in letting beings practice their customs, provided their custom isn't to roast you over a spit and serve you as the main course."

Kriffing Ewoks.

Ender shot him a glance from the treadmill. "I wasn't aware I'd been saying anything to the contrary," he said, sounding a little amused. "I just wasn't feeling very lei-y."

"Are you ever?" Ben teased back. "I haven't noticed a lot of flower necklaces in our room until now."

"I don't usually get them thrust at me," he returned. Casual gym time banter, he could do. "Don't say things like that. You never know when Karla might overhear..."

Though ahahaha at the idea of her being up this early. Ever.
