Kohala Coast, Hawaii | Evening | Sunday | February 20

As the sun gave way to the moon, the lights around the Big Island started coming on, brightening up the dark sky. Night falling just meant several new ways for the guests to enjoy themselves! A slight wind ruffled the palm trees but the temperature remained warm, making it comfortable enough to take long walks on the beach or just enjoy gazing up at the clear night sky.

There was still plenty to do, though! Nighttime activities were starting to swing into motion, music was wafting along the breeze, drawing people towards it's rhythmic sounds, and the smells of Hawaiian dishes were prevalent.

It was nighttime in Hawaii and the vacation had just begun!

[OCD is up! Guest Quarters | Resort Activities | Dining | Luana Lounge | Kahakai Bar Oceanfront | OOC This is going up early for maximum play time for all timezones!]

Beaches plus bars so totally topped the list of Caroline's favorite things about spring break. Being in Hawaii meant it was only natural she was drinking her booze from hollowed-out fruit and checking out how her new sandals showed off her brand new spa pedicure.

God, this school was awesome.

Nathan wasn't really one to hold grudges despite the fact that she'd really pissed him off two days ago. Still, the silent treatment had been ongoing and Nathan wasn't about to be the one to break that.

So, when he spotted her, he made his way over to her, drink in hand. And then he took a seat nearby and just looked at her. It wasn't some stalker stare, either, thank you. He looked more amused than anything.

Maybe she didn't think he sucked tonight.

It was sad to be so wrong as Nathan was. Caroline absolutely still thought he sucked.

Not that this meant she failed to notice his presence. Or that his eyes were actually on her. She swiveled around to send a look back, trying to figure out why he was so very amused. If she was causing that particular stare, Caroline certainly didn't know how and it only took a few moments for her particular brand of paranoia to set in. "What?"

Once she finally said the first word, Nathan's amusement turned into a smile. He hadn't expected her to respond with open arms or anything like that but he smiled anyway.

"What's what?" Yep, he was just gonna play dumb. Hey, he'd just been enjoying the view she provided. Nothing nefarious about that.

Caroline kind of thought he was always playing, which might have contributed to some of her issues there. "Um, you're staring?" she reminded him, one hand idly smoothing her hair and then her dress like she was concerned he saw something out of place about her appearance.

Not that she cared what he thought.

"So either I have like, a piece of lei in my hair from earlier or you had something you wanted to say. Which is it?"

Nathan thought she looked just fine. Better than fine, really. He still kind of disliked not being her roommate for this trip. Wesley was SO inferior.

"I'm not staring, I'm watching," he corrected, shrugging. "And your hair looks fine. So, you been enjoying ignoring me? Working out for you okay?"

He kind of hated it, honestly. Both being ignored and playing out that he was ignoring her. It was hard.

He had totally been staring no matter what term he used for it or how he complimented her hair. Which looked way better than fine with the ocean breeze blowing it just slightly.

"I have not been ignoring you, Nathan," Caroline answered, picking up her drink and taking a suck on the straw as an excuse to look away from him for a second. "If I was, I would not be talking to you now."

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Uh huh." Nathan settled back against his chair and tilted his head at her, keeping his eyes on her even if she wasn't going to look at him.

"So, we should just keep on how we've been going?" Nathan asked, raising his glass to his lips. "Want me to just get up and walk away? I don't have to talk to you."

He just...wanted to talk to her.

Like Caroline could avoid looking back when he said things like that. "I'm not going to tell you what to do," she replied, stirring her drink idly. It wasn't like it mattered what she wanted.

"So what are we talking about? The weather?"

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Good fucking grief, nothing could be easy. Absolutely nothing. Nathan just eyed her for a moment, letting the silence after her question stretch out a little more than necessary.

"I don't think I was asking you to tell me what to do," Nathan pointed out, shaking his head. "I think I was asking your opinion on the situation. You seemed to have loads of them on Friday. You use all those up while you were yelling at me?"

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
"God, is it impossible for us to have a normal conversation?" Caroline wondered, annoyed that he was bringing up Friday when she was trying to repress her own jealousy. "Consider that my opinion, Nathan. I want to talk to you, okay?"

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Well." Well, he'd expected her stubborn streak to last a little longer so now it seemed he had to get over himself and do a little sharing too. "I wanna talk to you too. I didn't come over here to annoy you. I came over here to..."

He made a gesture with his hand like that might stop him from having to admit anymore but he figured the words would be better.

"...make it better."

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Caroline wasn't sure she believed that, meaning she raised her eyebrow as she sipped her drink. "Where make it better is some code for stare until I think something is wrong with one of us? Or were you hoping that would like, break the ice?" It might have. The jury was kind of still out.

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:55 am (UTC)(link)
Nathan rubbed a spot above his eye and wondered where in the fuck he was actually going with this. He didn't know. It was more just winging it in the hopes he got it right.

"I came over here, didn't I?" Nathan asked, sounding a little exasperated. "I was having a perfectly good night, sitting by myself and slowly giving myself alcohol poisoning to the point of maybe having to have my stomach pumped, which is always an experience, let me tell you but I came over here instead. I wanted to talk to you."

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 11:58 am (UTC)(link)
Shaking her head with an actual idea, Caroline stood, grabbed her drink and moved herself to stand right next to Nathan. Nearby was just not good enough for these conversations of theirs.

"There. Now I've come to you, too." She set her drink down and offered her hand. "Hi, I'm Caroline Forbes, seventeen, and I totally think you should buy me a drink when this one runs out."

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It took Nathan a moment to figure out what she was doing with her re-introduction but once he did, he figured he could roll with that.

So, taking the offered hand, he said, "Nathan Young. A pleasure, Caroline, as always. Have a seat, will you? I think I can make the drink thing happen. You've caught me on a good night where I don't even mind ordering these garishly colored things that look like a rainbow vomited in them. They taste good, yeah?"

Of course, he hadn't let go of her hand while he said that and he was still holding it even if he'd change the grip from handshake to more just...holding. Shut up.

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
If he was going to hold her hand, she was going to slide a chair right up next to his to sit. "They taste like sugar. I'll let you try mine if you want. I just like the little umbrella and the bits of fruit stuck on a sword."

This was far better than whatever bitchy, crabby issues they were having.

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 02:12 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, let's give it a go," he said, settling his drink (which was not colorful or fruity) on a nearby table so he could have a free hand with which to reach for hers (because, yes, he was going to hold her hand).

"This better not turn me into some scarf wearing metrosexual, Caroline. I'll be very upset if it does. My entire wardrobe would have to go and then what would I wear? The sheets in the hotel room? A good metrosexual wouldn't be caught dead in those."

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nathan, if my rum punch turns you into a metrosexual, I promise I'll loan you scarves and cute tight pants until you can get to the store," Caroline told him, watching him expectantly for a reaction to the drink. It was alcohol, just with sugar and mixes so it tasted more like Kool-Aid to her than anything else.

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think my high levels of masculinity would significantly drop if I wore your clothes, nice as they might be," he said and then took a sip of her drink.

Nathan had been expecting to scrunch his face up or gag or something at the taste of the fruity drink but really, it didn't taste that bad. It was just sweet and...fruity. You couldn't really go wrong with that, apparently.

"Do I look any different?" he asked, turning towards her. "Any signs of turning into a metrosexual who might need to borrow a scarf? Am I less hot and more...girly gorgeous in a masculine way?"

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] puppywithatutu.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"You might need to chug a few more for that to start. Besides, it's not like I grew back hair for drinking shots with you all the time."

Caroline looked at him playfully as she paused. "And if you ask to check I will smack you." Pay no attention to the fact that half her back was exposed due to the dip in her dress.

Re: Kahakai Bar Oceanfront

[identity profile] tripledmyself.livejournal.com 2011-02-21 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who says I need to ask?" Nathan raised an eyebrow and took a few more sips of her drink before leaning back in his chair and getting a nice, long look at that exposed back.

"See, no checking needed," he added, smirking at her. "You've a very nice back, Caroline. Not that I doubted it or needed to tell you but since I've just taken a gander, I can add my accolades to the list that I'm sure you've received. Nathan seal of approval."

"Hi Caroline!" Bobby said, giving her a big smile. He assumed the hollowed-out fruit held juice because of course Caroline wouldn't be drinking. "I, um, like your shoes."

Girls liked it when you said stuff about their shoes, right?

"Hey Bobby!" Of course Caroline was drinking. She was a terrible influence on the cute little brothers of the world. "Thanks! I kind of love this whole vacation to warmth thing. Though likely not as much as the viewing public."

"I think everybody would like it," he decided. "I'm glad Mom let Jack and I go!"
