The Crown Princess - Monday [Ship/Princess Cays, Bahamas]

Early in the morning, the cruise director came over the loudspeaker announcing the port of the day and some on-boat activities of interest. Those paying attention would learn that from 9am until 5pm, the Crown Princess would be docked in the lovely Princess Cays, Bahamas where guests were welcome to participate in glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, or beach excursions for a portion of the day. Adults were encouraged toward the Sanctuary on the Sun Deck for a more private way to relax away from the teens.

Wade sighed, completely put upon by these wild accusations. "It's not my fault I'm like Bobby Fisher with shuffleboard. I mean, I am in my late fifties if you do the math on my completely illogical backstory."

"And I'm in my forties," he said and chuckled. "When has age ever mattered to you except when you're getting in trouble?"

"I am a very responsible adul--" Wade started snickering. "Oh, one day I'll say it with a straight face."

"Today is not that day," Fraser said and laughed. "Are you enjoying yourself?"

"I have a suite. The kind you see on the travel channel, even."

"As do I," he said with a nod. "Robin and I are in suite 1. She brought about fifty bags."

"Don't women always do that? I'm in Cancun." Faaaancy. "With Nate, but that's the the point."

"Well, she does but I haven't had many relationship with women," he reminded Wade. "But, you and the mayor in a suite. That sounds romantic."

"Says the guy plotting double dates!" Wade said. Oh, it was an accusation.

"Plotting...?" Fraser frowned. "What?"

"Nate said something about a double date and it's not right! It's like a pod person because he's all... agreeable and doing what I say."

Polly shouldn't be!

"I think that might have been Robin's doing," he said thoughtfully. "I certainly haven't been plotting and she's a much more likely suspect, don't you think?"

"She usually lets me in on the plans that involve Nate..."

"Maybe she hasn't gotten a chance to see you?" Fraser asked. "She had a bad time last week."

"Ah, the week we don't speak of other than hushed whispers and horror," Wade replied. "Let's never mention it again."

"Not a good one for you, as well?" Fraser asked. "I'm surprised you didn't rip your office up."

"I have some self control," Wade replied sulkily. "And getting your arm blown off is a pretty good mood killer too."

"...I bet," Fraser said slowly. "Robin just came close to tears a few times. I kept my arms."

"I find it best to just pretend it neeeeever happened."

"That's difficult to do but at least it went away and was followed by a very nice break?" Fraser tried.

"Complete with the elderly and those on honeymoons!" Wade replied. "So. Were you here to get your ass kicked at shuffleboard?"

"Not really," he said and eyed the shuffleboard setup. "I was just passing by. Trying to get out and not stay in my room and all that."

Wade waggled the stick at him, like that was supposed to tempt him. "I'll even buy you a drink."

"Oooh, Wade, your stick shaking is impressive," he teased. "I don't know how to play shuffleboard."

"Dirty. It's like curling without the ice! Or sweepers. Or fun."

A beat.

"It's better after a few drinks."
