Riften, Skyrim, Wednesday Afternoon/Evening

In comparison to Rorikstead, Riften is a metropolis. Though it has diminished somewhat in glory since the Civil War begun, it remains a large city set in the warmest part of Skyrim. That last part is evident also in the enormous amount of foliage - technically the Autumnal Forest starts just outside Riften's doors, but in reality, trees are found everywhere in the city.

Water, too: Riften was built partly on top of Lake Honrich, and the lake provides both trade lanes and an ever-present source of food for the city.

"I've eaten hot dogs from street vendors in the city," Clint said. "Food is just what keeps me going. Good tasting food is a bonus."

"Suddenly your New York pizza thing makes sense. It's just fuel, got it," Kitty teased, taking her coat off.

Clint gave Kitty a mock glare and took her coat for her. "I also like food that I can just grab with my hands, instead of needing a fork and knife to sift through mountains of sauce."

"And mountains of meat and cheese, don't forget that. And that's what makes it amazing," she told him.

"Speaking of cheese, that seems to be something in abundance around these towns," Clint said. "There's something I can't complain about."

"Yes! I don't have to ask what cheese is when I order it, and it's not extinct so I don't feel bad trying it," Kitty said. "What I'm learning on this trip is that I am not an adventurous eater."

"I think I have an easier time being an adventurous eater at home, where there are laws governing how food is made. And running hot water," Clint said.

"When we get home I'm getting in a hot bath and not getting out until the water cools down," Kitty said. "There will be bubbles."

Clint took his time closing his eyes and grinning. "Wait, give me a sec, I just need to... there's the mental image, yes."

"Add some more bubbles," Kitty said, just to be a brat.

"No, no, I'm taking them away. There's just a few in certain key places," Clint teased.

"Now this is going to happen at your place, and there will be a whole container of bubbles," she told him.

Surely that wouldn't lead to anything!

"Hey now, there's no reason to be that mean," Clint said, putting on a pout. "Even though I think my tub is a little bigger than yours."

"See, more room for bubbles," Kitty grinned, and tried to put on a straight face. "I mean, if you really wanted I guess you could share them..."

"Ah, see, now we're sharing the same mental image. This is good, this is progress," Cling said with a laugh. "I like this plan a lot."

"And then we can follow it up in a bed in a room that's not in the middle of a cold room," Kitty said, because that was the only way to make the plan better. "We'll be living the dream."

"That's the talk of someone who needs something warm to eat," Clint said. "Maybe we can get something warm and cheesy. Best of both worlds."

"You can tell it's been a long, busy week already because that's really exciting to hear," Kitty admitted.

"The rebuilding effort was better than I expected. The fact that the destruction was done by a dragon is cool." After a moment, Clint added, "You know, in an awful way. It's interesting."

"It is. Even if it's hard not to get all 'not all dragons' about it," she admitted. "I went to check it out yesterday. Decided I like Lockheed way way better."

Because her dragon was amazing and awesome.

"Lockheed would never do something like what we've been seeing. He's way too small," Clint teased.

"And well-behaved," Kitty added. "And awesome."

"As long as no one he dislikes is around," Clint said, half-joking now. "Seriously though, there needs to be like, a dragon destruction squad or something. It's weird thinking about something powerful enough to cause the damage we've seen just... you know, wandering around."

"Yeah," she agreed. "It wasn't that hard to find, and I doubt I'm the only one who did. Everything we just did could be undone if it decides to come back, and maybe do worse. I'm just not sure what to do about it."

"Of course you went looking for it," Clint said, like he totally hadn't. "It's kind of depressing, but the townspeople seem happy nonetheless."
