The night is for terrible things, not the day, silly narrative revelers. Especially when the night is clear, warm, and filled with the sizzling sounds of sssssamba! It might be Lent now, but it's still Rio, and it's still Friday. Time for dancing on the sand, in the clubs, and if you think there's no dancing in the streets anymore, you must be walking down the wrong street. Turn left by the man with the saxophone; drop a tip in his hat and he'll tell you where to go from there.

The deluxe beach view rooms (http://www.copacabanapalace.com/web/orio/deluxe_beach_view_rooms.jsp) have stunning views of the world-famous Copacabana Beach and some feature Juliet-style balconies. All have king or twin beds, en-suite bathrooms which feature a bath with shower, air conditioning and high-speed internet for those students who would get twitchy without it.

Also a refrigerator for those students who need to FREEZE and stop running naked through this post. BOBBY.

After several non-stop days of exploration and activities, Ben needed some down time, so he was holed up in his room with most of the contents of the room service menu (heavy on the desserts) and was flipping channels, looking for something mindless to watch.

Maybe the racing movies would be on in Portuguese?

Dave needed to get out and not be too active. So it ended up being a night lounging by the pool. This way he was still doing things and experiencing Rio without having to go too far.

It was the perfect solution.

Join the local style setters, step onto the golden floor and let it lead you into a sizzling space where 10,000 fibre-optic lights shimmer like stars in a velvet-black night sky.

Then have a Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler and some cheesy poofs. (Unless you're under 18. Then no cheesy poofs for you.)

Sometimes, the easiest way to vanish and find some space for yourself was... right in the middle of a crowd. At least, that was a technique Ender had never really had any trouble with.

Tonight felt like a night for it - a chance to line up some of his meandering thoughts over a glass of milk and a quiet, just-off-the-side table.

No matter how many weird looks he got over the milk.

Nighttime meant hitting up a bar and trying to get laid or get into a fight. The usual Friday night thing. This had to be one of the nicer places Jace had ever spent doing it. Isabelle would have been so jealous, Jace knew that for a fact.

So he was bragging, so what. Bragging was useful. She put her glass on the counter in front of him.

"Tell the bartender to get me a new drink, in a clean glass this time, and I want a cherry and an umbrella. And to use the fresh pineapple juice, not the canned stuff." A pause. "Thanks."

Jace's eyebrows about shot up into his hairline at that request, but he didn't mind being bitchy at a bartender. It was kind of fun, actually. So he had no trouble waving down the bartender and putting in Quinn's request, even insinuating that there'd be trouble for him if he didn't get it right.

"Does the umbrella add something to drinks?" he asked after the bartender got the order.

Hanna was back at the bar tonight. She spent most of the day relaxing, so the evening was for dancing and having a good time. Her routine hadn't really changed much this week.

Elphaba, wearing a gorgeous red dress with her hair down, was looking a mite more fabulous than normal.

It was the influence of her friends, partially. All of that meant she was finally managing to break a little bit out of her shell.

She had a new white sundress on, and she idly considered going dancing. She figured she was almost as good as the natives now.

Scully was lying down in a deck chair, talking animatedly to one of the soccer players from the night before. Apparently, he wanted to work on his English.
