Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Friday - Evening

The night is for terrible things, not the day, silly ~~narrative~~ revelers. Especially when the night is clear, warm, and filled with the sizzling sounds of sssssamba! It might be Lent now, but it's still Rio, and it's still Friday. Time for dancing on the sand, in the clubs, and if you think there's no dancing in the streets anymore, you must be walking down the wrong street. Turn left by the man with the saxophone; drop a tip in his hat and he'll tell you where to go from there.

"Well, I'm here," Elphaba greeted her friend, a smile on her face and a fabulous red dress on her body. "I don't know if I'll last all night, however."

She'd try, though.

"Wow, that's a hot dress," Hanna told her friend, proud that she was trying something new. "And I'll just have to make sure you have such a good time, you won't want to leave."

"Well, I wasn't expecting it to be miserable," Elphaba said, still smiling. "But an extra effort might be nice. While I'll be glad to get back to classes, I also can't say I've not enjoyed all the new things I've encountered this week."

"That's awesome," Hanna said. "I mean, it's Rio. Totally something different and new to do every day. Can't say it's ever boring here."

"No. And that whole festival, just... it's been an eye-opening experience. And I'm glad to have had you along with me for most of it," Elphaba said. "So... drinking, dancing, where exactly do we start with all this?"

"You order drinks over there," Hanna said, pointing toward the bar. "But you have to be 18 if it's alcoholic. I'm not planning to drink too much. Don't want a hangover on the last full day here."

"I'm not much of a drinker, either," Elphaba said. "Though I am eighteen. But I don't have a way to prove it, so it doesn't really matter."

They didn't exactly have drivers licenses in Oz.

"Well, I'm 21 tonight," Hanna said, smirking. "So if you want anything, I can get it for you."

"I think I'll start with just juice," Elphaba said. "We'll see if I get more adventurous later. I'm more inclined to enjoy the dancing."

Even if Elphaba's dancing sometimes... was very 'special'.

"Maybe I'll start with a soda. At least for the caffeine. I can always make it special later," Hanna grinned, heading toward the bar.

Elphaba followed her friend, not wanting to lose her amongst the other people. She did, however, find that she was getting some looks from some men in the bar... and not the usual sort of look she got. She actually blushed a bit.

"I do have to say, you're looking very young for your age today," she joked, trying to focus more on her friend.

"I have good genes," Hanna replied, smiling innocently. Really. "And I think those guys are totally checking you out."

Yes, she noticed.

"They're just... they are, aren't they?" Elphaba said. It was actually a little vexing. "I hope they just stay over there. I'm not sure what would happen if they came over."

Her sarcasm was likely to kick in as a defense mechanism. Hard.

"They'd probably offer to buy you a drink or ask you to dance," Hanna explained. "And you accept or decline. Totally up to you."

"Says the girl who has probably dealt with it before," Elphaba said, shaking her head with a little dismayed smile. "I'm more worried how I'll react."

Mostly with disbelief. And possibly laughing in their face.
