Copacabana Palace, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thursday - Evening

There was a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight, but when it was still practically 80 outside in February, was a little rain really going to ruin it?

It might even wash some of the glitter away. Well, probably not. No power on Earth was strong enough to wash glitter away. More than half of spring break was over, Fandom. Get out there and make some memories! Or drink-fueled regrets. Rio could accomodate either.

[For your OCD convenience: rooms / cipriani restaurant / the pool / bar do copa / soccer match and stadium tour / restaurants and clubs / daytime ]

Anakin had discovered that if he brought his datapad out to the pool, he could sit in a lounge chair and work without getting looked at too strangely for it.

Thus far his adventures in the city had been . . . much less eventful than he was used to, so working on some programming promised to be a much more satisfying pursuit than any of his other options. (The clubbing had been a disaster.)

He had a drink -- something nonalcoholic but tropical -- and his shoes beside the lounge chair as he sat, bent over the datapad and frowning with his hair falling into his eyes.

Anakin looked up after a moment and grinned sheepishly. "I think we all had to learn that word from someone outside the family."

"Because she's Jaina?" Anakin supplied. "It's a family tradition, then. Someone has to carry it on."

"A little bit," Anakin admitted. "I handwavily, la la la did the rock climbing, too. And a few other things. I went out to a club a couple of nights ago but it was pretty boring."

Blame his dad and Lando for skewing his expectations there, if you would.

Anakin rolled his eyes. "This girl kept giving me a hard time about being in her sunlight and finding something else to do if I thought sitting on the beach was boring, and she talked me into it."

In other words, he'd let himself get goaded into it.

"She said it would be interesting!" he added, just a touch whiny. "I should've asked what she thought interesting was. I wasn't expecting that."

Anakin rolled his eyes again. "Rebecca?"

Yeah, that'd be really reassuring, wouldn't it?

Anakin nodded, but he gave his cousin a curious look. "I didn't expect to get there and have everyone be doing nothing but dancing."

And other things, but he hadn't noticed.

And lo and behold, there were two wolves creeping up to peer curiously over his shoulder.

Never mind that neither of them would be able to read what was written there, no matter what language and/or alphabetic system was being used.

"Oh, hi." Anakin glanced over, having sensed a familiar presence. "Here to not swim, too?"

It wasn't that he couldn't, but there were more interesting things to do than actually use the pool for its intended purpose.

"Perhaps later," Firekeeper allowed, wrinkling her nose a little at the pool. The chemical smell was still a little off-putting. "Blind Seer complain there is too much sand in his coat. Maybe we wash it off some."

Blind Seer just shot Anakin a look that could only be interpreted as 'aggrieved'. Really, the things he put up with.

"At least there's water to wash it out with," Anakin allowed, sending a sympathetic look Blind Seer's way.

He was used to being surrounded by chemical scents, so he didn't think much of the chlorine himself, but he noticed Firekeeper's reaction.

"Not a fan of the chlorine?"

"It is a very strong scent," Firekeeper said with a grumble. "And why needed, anyway?" Hrmph.

"It's to keep it sanitary," Anakin explained. "With this many people in and out of the water all the time, they're concerned about harmful bacteria, or other things like that."

He grinned slightly. "Tahiri says the same kind of thing."

"Tahiri is very clever," Firekeeper said knowingly. "Is why we is her friends."

"That doesn't surprise me. You seem like you'd get along with her really well." Anakin's smile got a little broader, thinking about his best friend. "I like knowing some of her friends. It's almost like she's here."

"I feel much the same," Firekeeper admitted, offering Anakin a smile. "Having only heared about you in stories, is good to meet you truly."

"Of course she told stories," Anakin said, the corners of his mouth quirking up wryly. "I -- the same to you. Both of you."

He actually set the datapad aside for a moment, and reached a hand out to them.

And Blind Seer would be the one who reached that hand first, offering up a sloppy lick.

...What? It was a sign of friendship. If you were a (wolf-shaped) wolf.

Considering the kinds of friends Anakin had grown up with, it wasn't all that unusual, so any surprise in his eyes was under control quickly.

"Thanks," he told Blind Seer, guessing at the significance of the . . . kind of messy gesture.
