There was a slight chance of thunderstorms tonight, but when it was still practically 80 outside in February, was a little rain really going to ruin it?

It might even wash some of the glitter away. Well, probably not. No power on Earth was strong enough to wash glitter away. More than half of spring break was over, Fandom. Get out there and make some memories! Or drink-fueled regrets. Rio could accomodate either.

"I recognize that look," Ben said teasingly. "It's the confused one people in our family have when told to relax for an entire week."

Anakin looked up after a moment and grinned sheepishly. "I think we all had to learn that word from someone outside the family."

"I know I did," Ben said, "and Jaina worked through most of the vacations, too."

"Because she's Jaina?" Anakin supplied. "It's a family tradition, then. Someone has to carry it on."

"Maybe," Ben admitted with a little smile. "You've put the datapad down a little bit, right? The rock climbing was good."

"A little bit," Anakin admitted. "I ~~handwavily, la la la~~ did the rock climbing, too. And a few other things. I went out to a club a couple of nights ago but it was pretty boring."

Blame his dad and Lando for skewing his expectations there, if you would.

Ben's eyebrows arched up. "You went to a club?"

He wasn't sure if Jaina would be amused to hear that or yell at him lots for not watching out for Anakin.

Anakin rolled his eyes. "This girl kept giving me a hard time about being in her sunlight and finding something else to do if I thought sitting on the beach was boring, and she talked me into it."

In other words, he'd let himself get goaded into it.

"She said it would be interesting!" he added, just a touch whiny. "I should've asked what she thought interesting was. I wasn't expecting that."

"Which girl?" Ben asked, taking a sip from his glass of water.

Anakin rolled his eyes again. "Rebecca?"

Yeah, that'd be really reassuring, wouldn't it?

Ow. Ow. Water through his nose hurt.

"Rebecca?"

Anakin nodded, but he gave his cousin a curious look. "I didn't expect to get there and have everyone be doing nothing but dancing."

And other things, but he hadn't noticed.

"Were you expecting more violence or something?" Ben asked.

Please let him be thinking there would have been more violence. If he'd been expecting more sex, Ben's head would explode.

"Oh, good. I'm not the only one who thought it, then."

Entirely possible Anakin jumped to the wrong conclusion there, but at least it was the more comforting (also true) answer?

"Sadly, there is a decided lack of people wielding clubs at a club," Ben said sympathetically.

"She told me it wouldn't be tame." Anakin scowled, in a sulky but completely naive way that might have spoken volumes about the experience. "That was not what I expected."

Ben chuckled despite himself. "Sorry you were disappointed. What would you like to do instead?"

"This'll do for now," Anakin decided, tapping his datapad.

Anakin, no. Vacation.

"I don't suppose flying's going to be an option here . . ."

"No, but I have heard a rumor about hang gliding," Ben offered.

Anakin's eyes definitely lit up at that. "Astral. I'll take it."

Even if he didn't have an opportunity to try and beat Jaina for once.

"See you there?" Ben offered.

Because really. It was an activity practically made for their family.

"Count on it," Anakin promised. Sadly, he did not come up with nearly as smartass ways to say 'yes' as Tahiri did.
