MARYLAND RENAISSANCE FAIRE, SUNDAY, DAYTIME

Occasionally, the world Fandom was in departed from reality. Usually this was to do things like make jellybeans fall from the sky, but sometimes it worked out in Fandomites' favor.

And so it was that when the Fandom shuttle pulled up to the Maryland Rennaissance Faire grounds on Sunday, the day was cool but clear. The ground was decidedly not covered with freak slushy snow.

The trumpets blared, the actor posing as Lord Mayor of the village made a speech, and Revel Grove was officially opened.

"Well. We can watch after the elephant ride," Katniss offered, and she really probably wouldn't have if it hadn't been for him. But it did sound sort of interesting.

Just then, their turn came to ride one of the elephants because I modded time, muahaha and Wesley climbed up a small stepladder to get onboard. "That'd be nice," he agreed, and reached over to help her up.

Although really, she was much more equipped than he was to be climbing anything. This was just one of his attempts to be a boyfriend.

She appreciated the gesture for what it was, and let him help her, even as she reached out to pet the elephant's thick skin. "This thing's skin is like armor."

Wesley looped his arms around her waist and asked teasingly, "Are you trying to decide whether you could take one of these down?"

She probably could, too. Show-off.

Katniss paused a moment to think, and offered, "I'd need my special arrows."

Show-off, indeed.

"Where would you aim?" he wondered. "Just the eye might not be enough with one of these."

Only with these two was this a romantic topic.

"Under the trunk, too. They seem vulnerable there," she declared.

...and then she stroked the elephant's ear, in case it heard her.
