MARYLAND RENAISSANCE FAIRE, SUNDAY, DAYTIME

Occasionally, the world Fandom was in departed from reality. Usually this was to do things like make jellybeans fall from the sky, but sometimes it worked out in Fandomites' favor.

And so it was that when the Fandom shuttle pulled up to the Maryland Rennaissance Faire grounds on Sunday, the day was cool but clear. The ground was decidedly not covered with freak slushy snow.

The trumpets blared, the actor posing as Lord Mayor of the village made a speech, and Revel Grove was officially opened.

The costume shops are right inside the entrance; if you want to doff your normal clothes for breeches, a tight bodice, or both, here's the place to do it. If your normal clothes include breeches or a tight bodice, you're all set!

Steak-on-a-stake, soup in bread bowls, crab stuff because this is Maryland and they have a law, chocolate-dipped frozen cheesecake, and pretty much anything else that is 90% fat, can be eaten while walking, or both. Also lots of beer and hard cider.

Oh, and tables and chairs for lounging.

Stalls include candles, jewelry, chain mail, floral wreaths, dragon cartoons, stuffed animals, devil horn headpieces, and pretty much anything else that struck somebody as vaguely craftsy and Renaissance-appropriate.

Historically accurate or no, this Midkemian was used to browsing in markets such like this pretended to be, albeit with less food items on pieces of wood. He ordered the steak on a stake and wandered around while eating.

Tony found himself over at the armor booth for no apparent reason at all. Just, you know, curiosity.

And maybe a few frowns as it totally could have been made better at some of the booths. He stuck to the ones that looked like they could better handle an attack.

Again, for no reason at all.

"STAB 'M IN THE HEAD!"

Why yes, Deadpool and Jan were enjoying the fight club. Why would you ask?

Deadpool sniffled with pride at her encouraging shouts to the performers. "That's my girl."

Angelica moved from stall to stall, ooohing and ahhhing over the items for sale. She kept her eye out for potential Christmas gifts for Emma and possibly Catseye, since she wasn't as awful as the other Hellions to her.

"See anything good?" Yes, Tony. Warren was totally stopping by to pester you, wings conveniently hidden thanks to Karla's bracelet, and looking just the tiniest bit overwhelmed. "I mean, besides the handmade jewellery and all?"

Distract him, Tony! SO MANY PEOPLE.

"And the armor," Tony added, pointing out a set of chainmail that appeared to be decent quality. "For being a pretty ancient idea, it's still a good design."

"Well, it kind of had to be," Warren noted, smiling awkwardly. "I mean, if you didn't have functional armor, you'd end up dead pretty quick, right?"

It was like natural selection, kind of.

"Or learned to run very fast."

"Which could also be useful," Warren replied, smirking a bit. "Unless the other guy had a horse, anyhow."

"In which case, you're screwed," Tony replied. "Which is probably good that we have normal things like cars. And jet boots."

"Wings," Warren offered, because he wasn't about to be outdone by some silly little jet boots, thanks. "Or we could just settle for being better than the other guy. I hear that's always good, too."

He was getting proper training in that sort of thing! If, by proper training, one meant that he was getting his butt handed to him by a large man with black wings whenever he went to Kaeleer...

"Swords are definitely not part of my training with Mr. Rogers," Tony replied, looking them over critically.

"And my training is in sticks, really. But the swords are kind of neat..." Not that Warren would know what to do with them, either. "I wonder if they have any training swords here?"

That was not going to stop him from looking!

Upon catching sight of the elephant rides, Wesley glanced over at Katniss. She had mentioned that she liked them...

"They might have some blunted swords for it..." And far too much padding for them to wear.

Why were they even going in that direction? Oh right, idiot teenagers.
