Morning saw yet another temperature drop, though it would warm to roughly yesterday's temperatures as the day went on. Rain had left a wet sheen on the area, but it had since made way for simple clouds. If you were lucky, you might even catch sight of the sun eventually.

The hotel's facilities were still available for anyone who wanted to use them, including those staying in and avoiding the Habitat for Humanity build. Though if you were planning to get your chest waxed, we really recommend the build instead.

Ben had returned from his run before Ender got back from the gym, and since it had been cold and gross outside and the bathtub was just sitting there, waiting to be used, Ben started a fire in the fireplace, filled the tub, turned on the jets and the television, and promptly fell asleep in the water.

It had been a long few weeks, after all, even before the chest waxing.

Ender came back a little while afterwards, stepping indoors with his mind firmly set on other things. As a result, he'd shut the door and walked to the bed before he realised there was someone in the tub.

And then paused.

Um.

Maybe he should just go back...

"Who's there?" Ben murmured sleepily, not opening his eyes. "Ender?"

Synapses began firing a little slowly in his brain and he remembered where he was and what he wasn't wearing, and he turned an interesting shade of red that had nothing to do with the heat of the water.

Ender sighed internally. "I'll step outside for a minute," he said. He broke free of whatever brief stupor he'd been in and heading for the door.

"You don't have to," Ben babbled hastily, reaching into the Force to float over a fluffy robe (not really his style, but better than wearing nothing at all). "Just close your eyes or something."

He winced. Why had he said that? They'd been sharing a room for years!

Ender sighed aloud as he got to the door. "You don't actually have anything I haven't seen before," he pointed out. Perhaps he was something of a masochist. He didn't know. He stopped by the door and turned around, leaning back against it.

Literally, Ben added mentally as memories of the reunion weekend flooded back. He cursed his perfect recall as he scrambled gracelessly from the tub and pulled the robe on.

"Did you have a good run?" he asked, trying to pretend like that was a completely normal thing to ask at this moment.

"It was okay," Ender said distractedly, and crossed his arms. And eyed Ben. And said, "...Far be it from me to comment on your personal hygiene choices, but weren't you making fun of the waxing just two days ago...?"

Yes. Definitely a masochist.

Only up for a few hours and Ben already felt like he was in danger of death by blushing. Maybe he'd just pitch himself off a roof at the building site just for variety...

"Blame Tony," he said, even though he was the one who'd brought up waxing in the first place. "We got Topher to do it, but he wouldn't unless we did too--"

And this was why they shouldn't be left unsupervised.

"Hurt a bit, but now it's all weirdly smooth...it's kind of hard to stop touching it."

Stop oversharing, Ben.

There was one thing Ender hadn't missed while he was preoccupied and mood-shifty over the past few days, and that was mental images.

Sigh, Ben. Stop oversharing.

"The reasonable thing would have been to just let the Topher thing go," he was forced to point out.

There was any number of things Ender could say to that. All of them were a bad idea. Or at least somewhere in the vicinity of awkwardness.

"Finding joy in the suffering of others?" he asked, finally.

"Maybe a little," Ben admitted. "But Tony has no hair on his legs, and that's kind of hilarious."

Ben glanced at the clock, confirmed they had some time before they needed to get to the volunteer site, and wandered over to the bureau to find important things like pants.

"It was more interesting than going out drinking or getting a tattoo or something," he said.

Ender opened his mouth, then shut it to keep himself from saying something potentially awkward yet again.

This was starting to irritate him.

"You have already done the tattoo," he said.

"So has Topher," Ben said with a snicker. "This seemed like a good idea at the time..."

Those were famous last words, Ben.

"Talk about famous last words right out of the book of cliches." Ender sank down on the bed and tried to force three-minutes-ago out of his head. It wasn't working.

Ben probably wasn't helping matters by taking his time in finding a shirt right now, either.

"That's what we did after the waxing," Ben teased. "Read from the book of cliches. It was a pretty exciting Tuesday night."

"I can tell," Ender said, sounding... a little distracted.

No, it didn't help, much like the realisation that he didn't even know what he was doing with Ben or why anymore.

He suspected Valentine would have suggested a cold shower.
