Spa at the Monastery, St. John's, Newfoundland, Monday Afternoon

It was distinctly colder in St. John's than it had been in Fandom. Then again, for a city known to be the foggiest, snowiest, wettest, windiest and cloudiest of Canada, that was only to be expected. The ocean crashed somewhat menacingly into the coast every now and again, and by the time the group from Fandom arrived, the sky was already starting to darken.

Too-dark for work, but not too-dark to check into the hotel and unpack.

The hotel itself was a rather intimidating white building, surrounded by heavy bushes. Inside, though, you would find not just rooms fitted with cosy fireplaces and cosier jet-tubs near the beds, but also an extensive spa for anyone who really just wanted to relax before getting to the hard work.

Welcome to the Spa at the Monastery! Rooms come fitted with fireplace, bathroom, spa robe, a king-sized bed or two double beds, and an air-massage tub right in your bedroom. Enjoy.

Toby didn't know Jason, aside from the fact that they'd shared a couple classes. He had the impression that he was a nice enough guy, though, and even if he wasn't... it was only for a week. Flinging his knapsack down on the bed closest the window, he followed moments after with a spectacular flop.

Jason hadn't had a roommate in a while, but Toby never seemed like a bad guy in class, so he figured he could have done worse. When he came in, he smirked at Toby flopped on the bed. "Are the beds comfortable?" he asked, setting his bag down. "The place certainly looks nice."

Kate was used to traveling, very used to it, and had even been to Canada before, but had never been on an actual vacation in her life.

She dropped her bag on the bed and wandered over to examine the bath-hot tub whatever it was in the corner of the room. This kind of luxury was completely alien to her.

Chuck had at least met Billy, and by that was pretty confident this rooming arrangement was going to work out okay.

Annie decided she loved this place as soon as she walked in, setting her bags down to check everything out. There was a tub. In the bedroom. She'd never use it because tub in the bedroom but how cool was that?

Tara didn't really know William, but she'd seen him around enough to get a sense that, while rooming with boys would never be her Favorite Thing Ever, William wasn't really the kind of boy she needed to worry about. She started to unpack before she got distracted by the fireplace, wondering if it would be rude to start a fire before her roomie got there.

The first thing Ender did upon entry to the room was put down his bag. The second thing he did was eye the (one) large bed and the tub in the corner. The third thing he did was sigh loudly. This had awkward written all over it.

Then he sat down on the bed and flopped backwards onto the mattress, because it actually was quite comfortable. He'd deal with the rest later.

Quinn took one look at the air massage tub and decided her first act in St. John's had to be a bath. She wrapped herself in a provided robe, turned on the water, and waited for the tub to fill. Sure, it was a little immodest, but she sort of doubted her roommate would object.

Canada had just gone up a few clicks in her estimation.

Cara dropped her pack by the bed nearest the window. She eyed the tub, wondering whether she could get away with 'accidentally' locking her temporary roommate out until she'd had a chance to try it out.

If there was one thing about Mord'Sith temples she'd miss until her dying day, it was the baths.

It felt a little odd to be home-but-not, Jake mused, as he dumped his duffel bag on the bed. He'd briefly entertained the idea of going by the house to see if anyone was there, but from his admittedly vague understanding of the whole multiple-dimensions thing, it was entirely possible that this St. John's was not the one he'd grown up in. And he didn't really know how he'd feel about seeing strange people living in his father's house.

Besides, this way he got to share a room with Bo, so who was he to complain about something like that?

Scully didn't know who Peter Wiggin was, but she was certain that the luxuries of the Spa would make up for the small inconvenience of sharing a suite with a teenager she didn't know.

There was a blur down the hallway which skidded to a halt in front of room 14. Bart appeared, wobbling slightly, holding a piece of paper, looking from it to the door.

he shrugged and opened it. He looked around, flopped on the bed for a moment, then ran at superspeed to get his stuff. In a blur, he was back on the bed, looking up at the ceiling, with his bad on the floor beside him.

"What kind of a name is Wesley Wyndham-Price? Sounds French. I wonder if he's french. Why don't they have any video games here. This is boring." He fretted, wondering what he should do.

"I am so not leaving..." Although rooming with Topher was going to be a challenge, she just knew it.

Hanna was impressed. This was probably the nicest nicest room she'd ever stayed in on a school trip. Immediately, she tossed her luggage on one of the beds and went to explore the room a bit more. There was an air massage tub, what?

Ahhh, Newfoundland!!! That was like, near Norway, or Saskatchewan, or Cambodia or some place like that, right? Having been all over the world, it was easy to get it all mixed up.

Hank tossed his bag on the floor and started jumping on his bed, because that was what one DID in a new room. Vacation was ON!

This tub was simply exquisite. Lucrezia felt she might never remove herself from it.

Of course, she would, and not after too long, as she would not wish to keep her roommate from experiencing its delights. But she would indulge herself as long as her conscience allowed, first.
