Kohala Coast, Hawaii - Morning & Afternoon - Friday - February 25th

With only two days of vacation left, time was running out for the guests to enjoy the blue skies and warm ocean breeze of Hawaii. Luckily, there were still plenty of things to do at the resort, for anyone who wasn't worn out from all the fun yet!

The Orchid Court

Jaina was beginning to wonder if she was trying to outdo herself with hangovers while she was still on Earth. This meant that not only would there be no training till she felt better, but there would be no being directly outdoors till her head didn't hurt. So she went to get coffee and something that she could handle for breakfast and sat at a table with a datapad... running a search for her name.

If there were any jaw drops or outraged gasps, it was because she'd found something pairing her either with an ex, or someone who possibly could have been an ex, or a girl friend, and there were some she would just pretend she didn't exist entirely.

And the sudden, "I DO NOT DO THAT," was the result of her reading something dirty involving her out of morbid curiosity that she really shouldn't have.

The sudden "I DID NOT DO THAT" got Tahiri's attention, and she wandered over from her table looking like she was trying very hard not to laugh.

"You didn't do what?"

"Something I doubt is even anatomically possible," Jaina said, then realized who was speaking and she closed what she was reading down fast. Ignore any blushing. "Uh, hi."

Blushing? What blushing? Tahiri didn't think Jaina did that.

"Anatomically possible? What are you -- oh, kriff. You," she said, leaning against the back of a nearby chair, eyes widening, "cannot possibly be that bored."

Tahiri had recently discovered fanfic. It was a horrifying enough experience to leap to that conclusion.

"I'm not!" Jaina said defensively, then her brain caught up with her. "Wait, what do you think I'm reading?"

"My first guess was going to be news reports from home," Tahiri told her, "until you brought up the anatomically-possible detail. Now I'm wondering if you've found some of those awful stories people write based on TV shows."

She hadn't discovered the RPF section yet, okay? Her brain also refused to go to the place where those two concepts meshed.

"Close," Jaina groused. "I found the awful stories people write based on me."

Yes being a public figure sucked sometimes. Like now.

There was just going to be some sputtering now. It was required.

"People write stories like that about you?"

Yeah, Tahiri was extra grateful to be a much lower-profile figure now.

She started to nod, then realized that was not good for her headache or the I'm-not-queasy-really feeling. "That was about my reaction when I found out the same thing about Grandfather last night," she said. "So I searched for myself and now I'll regret it forever."

"I probably shouldn't ask, should I?" Tahiri blurted out. It was a little horrifying to realize people actually did that sort of thing, but intriguing.

In a horrifying way.

"No. But then, I shouldn't have looked in the first place," Jaina told her. "Mainly it's people obsessed with either linking me to anyone they may have seen me in public with ever, marrying me off- so it's nice that's a theme no matter where I go- or them thinking way too hard about how I spend my free time." Ahem.

There was a joke Tahiri could have made about how it was almost a shame that retribution wasn't a Jedi thing to do, but she had enough concerns about the Dark Side as it was -- memories of Jaina going that way, Leia flinging Force lightning that one weekend, knowing what Jacen might grow up to be, knowing what a version of her had done -- that the joke didn't even cross her mind.

". . . anyone?" No, she hadn't thought to possibly include herself there. Still . . . "That's a little horrifying."

Thank the Force Jaina had not found anything with Tahiri yet. "Oh, yeah. There was a glut of ones featuring myself and Tenel Ka at one point," she said, frowning. And it would be pretty. "That'll make it easy to look her in the eye next time I see her. Mostly though, it focuses on Jag or Kyp or Zekk. So, that's comfortable all the way around."

"You and Tenel Ka." Tahiri was forgiven for being distracted by the pretty looking incredulous there, right? Because she'd seen Tenel Ka around Jacen, so that wasn't awkward at all. At all. She'd also seen Jaina around Jag, Kyp, and Zekk, so . . .

"Sithspit, of all the hobbies anyone could come up with. I'd be tempted to look myself up, but I doubt I'd find anything."

"Spare yourself," Jaina advised. "Thanks to Fandom I missed being on the HoloNet at two very big times when I should have been, so I didn't think I'd find anything either. And now if I probably had less alcohol still in my system I'd be wanting to go hunt some of these authors down."

This is why she should never chaperone.

Tahiri did not allow herself to say anything about how it would give Jaina something to do, even if she knew how Jaina got about too much downtime. That was the sort of thing that should never be encouraged, really.

"Spared because of a hangover," she remarked instead, more teasing than chiding. "Those authors will never have any idea how lucky they are."

"Or unlucky, as at the very least they could use a good lecture on how so many of the things they write are not even possible. And learn that I don't talk the way they write me." Though it was weirder when they got characterization right.

"Do they like to mention your height and eye color every other paragraph, too?" Tahiri had to ask, unaware of the astounding irony. "As if any of them have ever even met you, or have a clue what you're actually like."

Watch, now she was going to go get her datapad, and end up discovering fic about Threepio and the Sarlacc. Look what you might have started, Jaina.

"Mostly they call me 'tiny' and describe my eyes as orbs," she complained. "...You sound like you've read a few of these."

"Nothing about you!" Tahiri said quickly. "But there's stories like that about Rumor Gal and things like that, and they're the same way."

Jaina couldn't help but smirk a little. "You read a lot of stories about Rumor Gal, Tahiri?"

"Only a couple," Tahiri said defensively. "The Galaxy Quest ones have much more of a terrifying fascination."

Now the smirk turned into a smile, though she had to say, "I'm not sure I want to ask, but I almost want to ask."

Tahiri made a face. "It's the ones where they write about the cast members having all kinds of torrid affairs behind the scenes . . ."

She could just die of embarrassment now.

"That's the kind of stuff I've been finding!" Jaina said, jaw dropped. "So this is what you do in your spare time..."
