3/5 - Leicester Square

Various members of the school trip are on a pub crawl... or rather, a hunt for the Watcher's Council, 14 Leicester Square.

They've gotten a tip from a crystal ball, and are looking for a sign.

And possibly? Tweed.

Andrew lead them down the hallway to the Council's small library. "Can you tell me more about the poison? Perhaps I can assist your search in some way."

"Unfortunately we don't have a lot to go on. We're guessing it must be magical in origin," Marty said as he followed Andrew to the library. "It's essentially killing a friend of ours of the um... dead-but-still-souled variety."

Andrew paled. You wouldn't have thought there was a lighter shade to his skin, but yet suddenly, there it was. "You should have said so!" he cried. He ran over to a shelf and pulled off several books. "These all categorize variants of mystical poisons and intoxicants. That'd be a good place to start. And, uh, the third row, top shelf, there's a big red book that lists diseases that can affect the undead - that might have something." He rattled off a list of a few more possible books.

Rory nodded along. "Thank you," she said gratefully, taking the books from Andrew, and immediately retrieved the red book he'd indicated, going up on her toes to gently pull it down.

She took the stack of books over to a desk and immediately began thumbing through the index of one, chewing on her lip and already taking notes on a pad of paper she'd unearthed from her purse.

Parker started paging through and sorted out the ones in Latin and Greek, then grabbed the ones in Spanish and French. "Are any of these specific to poisons that are injected?" She cracked her neck, then sent Andrew a sharp look. "And you're amazingly knowledgeable about this," she said grudgingly. "I take it you're acquainted with certain souled vampires?"

"Very well indeed," Andrew said proudly. "I'm not certain about the poisons. I've only researched vampiric disease, myself."

"Really." Parker somehow found that difficult to take on faith, but, who knew. "Anything that will kill them deader than undead?"

Andrew looked shocked. "I thought you were here to save Spike!"

"Spike?" Parker blinked, and decided not to get into what he'd been like when she'd met him. "This is for Angel. And I want deader-than-undead for Dru and Darla, when I catch up with their skanky homicidal asses."

"Oh, Angel!" Andrew said in disappointment. "That's good. So you guys are from a slightly earlier timeline, huh?" He looked over at Xander.

"I guess?" Xander nodded. "I mean, you seem to know me, but I can't remember ever meeting you."

"I summoned the flying monkeys that attacked the school play," Andrew said proudly, then quickly added, "But that was when I was evil. I'm over that phase now."

"Good goin'," Parker said, giving him a thumb's up and a huge smile. "I'm glad the Watcher's Council is recruiting from all available resources. Especially the formerly evil like that. It's in the best tradition of space opera. Or maybe I mean soap opera?"

Andrew tried to look down his nose at her, but since she was slightly taller than him, it didn't quite work. "Redemption is a difficult road to travel. I cannot expect you to understand the path I've taken, but as one of Angel's trusted compatriots, I would expect you to at least respect it."

Parker's amusement didn't diminish, but she did dial the sarcasm down a couple notches. "Wings is an idiot with a messiah complex. But I'll grant you the difficulty, and applaud the effort. It's just-- flying monkeys? Did you have a Wizard of Oz fixation? Why?"

Victor tried to look nonchalant as he slipped beside Rory and turned on his camcorder. "Just in case," he muttered, flipping open a book and recording the pages on poisons.

Andrew reached over and shut the camcorder off. "I'm sorry, there is no video recording or flash photography allowed."

"You could have just asked me to shut it off," he said, putting the camcorder away. "Or posted a sign at least.

Then, he got an idea. "What about non-flash photography?" He didn't intend to do it, since he didn't have a camera, but if this guy wanted to be ana ass, well, two could play at that game.

"This is a private collection and you are here as a guest," Andrew said. "If you feel that you cannot control your urge to record every moment that passes before your eyes, you are welcome to wait for your comrades outside."

"Actually, it was just because I was so fascinated," he said with innocent eyes. "I mean...ever since I was attacked by a vampire in a park I've been looking for ways to defend myself, you know? I've been doing a lot of research, but I haven't seen anything like these books." Then, a thoguhtful pause. "Do you by chance have a gift shop?"

"Victor," Rory said sharply. "You're not helping. We're here for a reason. So just sit down, do some research, or just please be quiet. Because antagonizing this nice man who's letting us look at his books is not productive."

"Who said I was antagonizing?" he asked, getting up and going somewhere where he wasn't going to be around snooty people. "I was being serious," he said as he walked away and began to look at the books on his own.

Which was true. Yeah, he had been pissed at the British guy for being so rude, but he actually had been curious. But if people wanted to judge him, he'd let them miss out. It wasn't like he wasn't used to it already.

"Hey Victor, come over here I need help getting that book all the way up there without tipping this bookcase over."

She takes his arm and leads him over to the other side of the room and whispers in his ear as she does so.

"Stuffy peoples get antagonized over the littlist things. Don't take it personally."

It's not clear if she's talking about Andrew or Rory.

She winks.

Pippi points to a large blue book on the end of a top shelf at the end of a bookcase. There is a convenient stretch of bear wall next to it.

How fortuitous.
