Atlantis Resort, Bahamas | Sunday | Afternoon/Evening [Rooms & Activities]

As the group from Fandom emerged from the portal, they would be greeted by paradise. The weather was warm, immediately making any jackets and sweaters useless. The sky was a light blue flecked with clouds and, before the group, stood the sprawling Atlantis Resort. Beyond that, miles of sandy beaches, exciting activities, delicious restaurants and anything else you might desire was there at your fingertips, just waiting to be experienced!

Welcome to the Bahamas! It's better down here!

Dinah paused, and said, "Well, mostly I just put it on..." But guessing that there was something more behind it, and feeling a little self-conscious now, she folded her arms, and said, "I had to work up to a bikini. Last year it was a tankini. Why are you asking?"

"No reason." Which, given the way Triela's eyes darted off to the side, may have been the single worst attempt to lie she'd ever made.

Dinah snorted, hands back on her hips. "Shyeah, right. You have to work on that gameface there, Triela. Do you want to wear one like this? I mean, I figure, I've worked hard at being in shape to fight. I might as well show off the work. But it's not for everyone."

"But... don't people," that was subtle code for 'boys' there, "stare?" Triela wasn't really comfortable with staring. Not like that anyway.

And if that wasn't the smoothest dodge to Dinah's question ever, well...

"Some, yeah. Although there's a lot of people to stare at here. So it's not like I'm the sole focus." Dinah had done some staring at all the shirtless guys herself when she first arrived. "It's kind of nice. No one's made any comments yet or anything."

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's... nice?" Triela repeated, sounding confused.

Dinah paused, because wow, how to explain, when Triela so didn't get it? "To be admired? Appreciated? And anything more, well. I'm not that kind of telepath." She cocked her head. "And it goes both ways, so..."

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Triela blinked slowly, still a bit lost. "Admired for what?" It wasn't like anyone could see how competent you were just because you were in a skimpy piece of clothing...

Triela was good for a girl's ego the way aspirin was good for a headache. Dinah had to grin. "Being pretty? Healthy? Maybe even sexy?" Dinah's self-image wasn't so huge that she thought she was All That, but appreciation was always nice. "Just, you know. Attractive part of the scenery?"

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"So... to be underestimated?" Triela asked hesitantly. After all, no one considered scenery a threat.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"That too," Dinah admitted, but the grin was a little more wry now. "But being pretty for pretty's sake, that's a buzz too. Even if I don't talk to a guy who's smiling at me."

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-21 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"It... is?" Triela didn't sound doubtful, just... unsure.

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, for me it is," Dinah said, pushing her hair back and smiling ruefully at Triela. A combination of feeling like she could beat up more guys now, and feeling like sex was not an impossibility. "It didn't used to be, but I'm more comfortable with being noticed now. Just for yourself, don't you like looking good?"

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
"Well, of course." Everyone did, right? "But what does that have to do with this?" It wasn't like you could get a well-tailored bikini.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well, you could, but even a badly-tailored one could show off the main canvas.

Feeling like she needed another language for this, Dinah said, "I worked on my body the way someone worked on this bikini. Weight lifting and running, fighting practice and actual fighting. Eating right in between all the sugar. I know you don't have to exercise the same way, or work at it as hard, but you look good too."

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Triela thought about that. "But... you're showing off your work..." That part sort of made sense, sort of like Triela showing off her skills with guns, or the hand-to-hand stuff she'd learned. "I would be showing off..." What? Someone else's work? That didn't seem all that interesting...

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Dinah frowned, because yeah, a lot of Triela's body was someone else's work, and sometimes treated as someone else's property, too. She blinked. "Surviving," she finally said. "You're showing off that despite all the operations and missions, you got through it. You're tough. It all still works, and so do you."

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm..." Triela thought about that. It would show that, at the very least, she had not been damaged recently enough for it to show. That was an expression of competence...

Sort of.

"Maybe it won't be so bad, then," she muttered more to herself than to Dinah.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
"What won't be so bad?" Dinah asked, already half-dreading the answer.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
"Nothing!" Triela's answer came far too quickly to be convincing.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
"Triela. C'mon. It's me." Dinah gave her a look, and said, "Is this another directive coming down the pipe from the Agency thing?"

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:40 am (UTC)(link)
"Yes," Triela sighed and scowled at the same time.

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
"What this time? A swimsuit, I'm guessing?" Had to be, from their conversation. "Oh my god they suck so much, sometimes."

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] sorella-vecchia.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
"A..." Triela waved at Dinah. So, yes. A swimsuit.

"I don't even understand this one," she complained. "Unless... that scenery thing you said..."

Re: Atlantis Beach [SB 2010]

[identity profile] blondecanary.livejournal.com 2010-02-22 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably, although it loses a lot if you don't feel like doing it." Dinah scowled. "Did they even let you pick it out?"
