The Crown Princess - Monday [Ship/Princess Cays, Bahamas]

Early in the morning, the cruise director came over the loudspeaker announcing the port of the day and some on-boat activities of interest. Those paying attention would learn that from 9am until 5pm, the Crown Princess would be docked in the lovely Princess Cays, Bahamas where guests were welcome to participate in glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, or beach excursions for a portion of the day. Adults were encouraged toward the Sanctuary on the Sun Deck for a more private way to relax away from the teens.

"Didn't I tell you not to fall in?"

Arthur had no intention of going swimming just yet, and was as such still properly dressed. Sunburns weren't his idea of a good time.

He was exploring the area.

Well, and mocking Merlin. Clearly.

Having far too much fun despite the pain he'd be in with the burns later--yes, even with Dinah's sunscreen--Merlin looked over at him and positively beamed. "The water is warm, you really ought to try it!"

"Maybe later, Merlin."

When he was sure their rather English palour wasn't going to cause havoc and destruction in this bloody sun. "This is an interesting passtime," he commented, trying (and somewhat failing) not to look at all the half-naked people.

Merlin had studiously managed to avoid looking too carefully at the nudity, thank you. "Dinah has sunscreen," He offered.

"Sun... screen?" Arthur asked him, raising an eyebrow. "Don't you start, too."

"It's supposed to keep you from burning." A beat. "More than you ought to normally."

PALE.

"You'd need more than some screen to accomplish with that," he said, taking a seat in the sand.

Merlin just gave him an amused look and kicked water in that direction. Not that it would hit him, more just because it was fun. "I thought you'd enjoy a chance to show off, my lord."

"I don't need to show off," Arthur said, even though he did it all the bloody time. "Perhaps another time. I'll watch you catch flame first."

"I can hardly catch flame in the water, Arthur," Merlin informed him, chin lifted haughtily.

Well, it would be if he could keep from smiling it would be.

Heaven give him strength. Idiot.

"I've no doubt you'll find a way."

Sighing, Merlin tromped through the water to join him on the beach in a heap of sunburned limbs. "It's alright if you're afraid of the water," He teased.

"I don't get afraid," Arthur told him promptly.

"Then why not join me in the water?"

"Because not all of us are inclined to splash about like a suffocating fish in the afternoon sun," he said, patiently, "And I've got to find this sunscreen you're talking about."

That he counted as a success. "If I find you some, will you?"

He sighed.

This was how exasperated he was. "Will you stop badgering me, then? You sound like someone's mother."

"My mum," Merlin said, with an amused tone. "Would have a fit if she knew I was in the sun this much."

Arthur shot Merlin's blindingly pale chest a look. "Can't blame her."

"But I'm not afraid to have a bit of fun here," Merlin replied smugly.

"Merlin," Arthur started, sounding exasperated, annoyed and amused all at once, "I told you, I don't get scared. And even if I did, the water's hardly going to frighten me."

Pushing himself off the sand, Merlin just smirked at him. "It's alright. The water is terribly shallow and clear. I would be frightened too."

"You really need to grow past this deadly habit of taunting royalty."

"I would never taunt you, my lord," Merlin said, bowing low and showing off his bright red shoulders and back.

Arthur snorted. It was a chuckle next. "You look like a tomato, Merlin."
