The Crown Princess - Monday [Ship/Princess Cays, Bahamas]

Early in the morning, the cruise director came over the loudspeaker announcing the port of the day and some on-boat activities of interest. Those paying attention would learn that from 9am until 5pm, the Crown Princess would be docked in the lovely Princess Cays, Bahamas where guests were welcome to participate in glass-bottom boat, snorkeling, or beach excursions for a portion of the day. Adults were encouraged toward the Sanctuary on the Sun Deck for a more private way to relax away from the teens.

Merlin stopped, looking back at him. He may have even had his hands on his hips. Yes, like a girl. "Which is why you're worth liking, Arthur."

Abruptly, Arthur looked up from his seashell. "Well, that's kind of you," he said, warily.

Merlin just grinned back at him, completely guileless and open for a moment before kicking water toward him again. "You really out to see the things out here. It's like flowers under the water with all the colors."

"Don't go picking anything," Arthur said, shaking his head as he glanced back at the shell.

"It moves before you can get close," Merlin called back, looking back at the reef.

"If there's one thing in this world I don't doubt, Merlin, it's your propensity for getting into trouble regardless of sense."

"And here I thought it was you who never listened," He said, now pushing out to his waist in the water.

"One of these days, I'll be able to stop reminding you of who you're talking to," Arthur said, firmly. "And then I've no doubt hell will freeze over."

Merlin fell back, kicking his legs to float out a bit in the water before the waved pushed him toward the shore again. "I always know who I'm talking to!"

Wiping salt water out of his eyes, Merlin ran his fingers through his hair to keep it from dripping. That was just painful.

"Did I need one, my lord?"

"For blatant insubordination? I would say so," Arthur said, nodding as he thought of it. "Taking your eyes out with water is a brilliant idea, while we're at it."

"You'll run out of shells to toss my way eventually," Merlin said, trying that kicking back out against the waves bit again.

Arthur rolled his eyes and chucked the shell at Merlin's back with excellent precision, thank you. "You're annoying."

"Oi! That's uncalled for!" Merlin called, reaching back to rub the spot he was hit.

"Actually," Arthur said, loosening his wrist a little while he could- it had been far too long since proper training, "I do remember you asking for it."

That just mean Merlin was going to get closer to where Arthur was and kick water at him in earnest.

This was a brilliant plan. Really.

Arthur stared at him.

His hair was now dripping wet and his shirt clung in incredibly uncomfortable ways. Staring was the five-second response required before he did anything else. "Merlin."

Merlin bit his lip to keep from laughing and... ran in the opposite direction. Which happened to be the water, but that was okay. He could safely live out there until Arthur calmed down.

In a year.

Arthur debated doing the proper thing that would involve keeping his upper lip stiff and all of that, but in the end, another reflex won out.

Which is to say that he sped after Merlin, doing his damnedest best to tackle the boy into the water. It seemed a good compromise for the lack of stocks.

And down Merlin went!

That, in retrospect, had not been a well thought out plan. But it certainly didn't stop Merlin from twisting and trying to break out from the tackle.

Arthur got up with a severe roll of his eyes.

Only to discover that his clothes were wet. "You just earned yourself another afternoon's work."

Merlin stayed in the water where he was, sitting down, but with it up to his shoulders. "Of course, Arthur."

He was still amused and working under the assumption that was a win for him.
