Endor [Tuesday, December 30]

Luke, sadly for those who were not, was totally a morning person. As soon as the sun rose above the horizon, he was up, trying to get everyone ready for another day of hut building and bridge hanging.

There was breakfast and really ~~awful~~ strong coffee, and then the hike back to where they'd been working all of yesterday.

Luke would understand if people took breaks to explore today. Three solid days of manual labor is no vacation.

She blinked. "I've never heard of kriffing sand. Is it different than regular sand?"

"Oh, sorry," he said and it was his turn to blush. "Kriffing...is a curse word in my universe. Sort of like damn and...the other harsher words here."

"Ohhhh!" she dragged out. "Then I just said a very bad word, didn't I?" Of course she couldn't help but giggle at that.

"You did!" Gavin laughed. "But no one really knows it's a bad word except for those who're from here too. And they use it more than I do. It's nice to be able to curse and confuse people with it."

"When I get mad, I will remember that word. It'll be perfect," she laughed. "Not that I get mad often." What was it again? Kriff? Kraff? She'd hate to say it again in front of him.

"I don't get mad often either," he said, "but I've been around the military most of my life and you should hear how they talk. Curse words are plentiful."

"Do you know another one?" she asked, grinning.

"Sithspit's one that my friend uses," Gavin told her. "I don't know what that one's equivalent too though."

"Sithspit," she repeated. "Wow. Try to say that ten times fast."

"Yeah, that one's a tongue twister," Gavin said with a grin. "That just means it's easier to fake a different word if someone picks up on the fact that it might be a curse word in another language."

Penelope laughed. "It's brilliant! I could say it at my mother and she'd do nothing more than look at me strange. Which isn't much different from now, but it would be amusing."

I've heard borked too but I don't used it," Gavin said. "But, still a curse!"

"Borked?" And that just produced a new stream of giggles. "I would laugh at myself for using that one!"

"I know, it's kind of a funny word," he agreed with a laugh. "I don't think I could take it seriously as a curse word."

"No, me either," she said, and hoped she wasn't staring too much. Just, Max.. she kind of missed him. Even though he'd lied to her.

"You are in Master Skywalkers class then?"

"I was but not this term," Gavin said. "I know his son. Luke's a good friend of mine and I couldn't pass up the chance to come back to my galaxy for a few days."

"I haven't met Luke yet. Perhaps I will get the chance," she said. "I wouldn't pass up a chance like this either, were it my home, or close to it."

"He's an alumni so, if you see a short guy with bad hair here, that's him," he said. "He's a nice guy though. I promise."

She laughed. "Bad hair. I'll tell him you said so."

"I tell him all the time," he laughed. "He'll be used to it."

"You two are good friends then?" she asked.

"Yeah," Gavin said, nodding. "We knew each other for about a year before he graduated and he grew up on the same planet as I did. The timelines are screwy so I was a kid when he knew me. He was good friends with my cousin."

"A kid, wow," she said. "The timelines are screwy and something I am still getting used to. People are from everywhere," she laughed.

"Oh yeah," Gavin agreed with a nod and wide eyes. "It's still weird for me and I've been here for awhile now."

So much like Max. It was strange. Really really strange.

"How much longer do you have at Fandom?"
