Endor [Tuesday, December 30]

Luke, sadly for those who were not, was totally a morning person. As soon as the sun rose above the horizon, he was up, trying to get everyone ready for another day of hut building and bridge hanging.

There was breakfast and really ~~awful~~ strong coffee, and then the hike back to where they'd been working all of yesterday.

Luke would understand if people took breaks to explore today. Three solid days of manual labor is no vacation.

As much as Meg would love to go exploring about, she was pretty sure it would send her already slightly nervous agents (Hello, different planet anyone?) into conniptions. So she was working. Just a slightly slower pace then might be expected.

"Wow, they followed you to another planet?" Hurley said when he saw Meg and her agents. "That has to be, like, extra hazard pay or something."

"Nobody wants to be the one to explain to the President that they lost her daughter," Meg grinned. "Even on a different planet, so here they are. Although I doubt the Ewoks count for hazard pay. Unless potential death by cute counts."

"True, this place is pretty safe," Hurley said. "You having fun?"

"As long as I don't think about the ski trip I'm missing," she replied. "But in the choice between Stowe or another planet, I have to admit, another planet won out, just on the sheer wow factor."

"Ski trip?" Hurley said. "With your family, I guess?"

Meg nodded. "Yeah, we all pretty much grew up on skis. It's a lot of fun."

"Cool, I never really did much skiing. Or, any really," Hurley said. "I mean, I coulda, if I went to the mountains, but I'm not really... built for graceful sports."

"You'd have fun tubing. Trust me," she told him.

"That's like, sledding, right?" Hurley said.

"Like sledding. But without the ability to steer," Meg explained. "Lots of fun."

"So just... going down a hill on a big tube?" Hurley said with a chuckle. "Sounds fun, yeah."

"Yeah, especially when you start moving at what feels like warp speed," she grinned. "And I mentioned the lack of steering ability. Did I also mention there's no way to stop?"

Billy recognized bodyguards when he saw them. He wondered who the girl was that she had such protection.

"Movie star?" he guess aloud.

"President's daughter," Meg explained.

"Seriously? Wow that's way more impressive."

Not so if you always felt like you were constantly sharing her with the rest of the world. Not that she'd admit that.

Meg shrugged, "She mom."

"The president in your world's a woman? Awesome."

"She's the first. Wait till there's a second before you start thinking we're all enlightened."

"Yeah good point. Still, pretty cool. Sending you to Fandom must have cut down on the press hounding you I bet."

"Just a bit," Meg admitted. "It's nice."

"Is it wrong that I'd like to see the look on a reporter's face when they realize that if they tried to file a story about anything here they'd be laughed out of the business?"

"No, it would be amusing."

"Oh good. Random question, democrat or republican?"

Meg's answer was immediate and left no room for argument. "Democrat of course."
