Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Québec City, Québec [Wednesday Morning/Afternoon]

The weather was a little cooler and cloudier today, but that just meant it was really time to break out those fashionable hats and scarves!

Okay, maybe only whatever scarves you all brought are fashionable, but some of you are annoying and can make any item of clothing work, so just make sure you're bundled safely. We're only halfway through the week and there's still so much to do!

Even though Graham grew up in a sea-side village, he didn't live close to the ocean, and so the ocean and all it had to offer was always fascinating to him. As was going on a boat! He could pretend sometime to be the pirates that he knew hung out in Llewdor's port! Or a knight taking care of those rascally pirates now, instead! And he'd heard about how majestic the whales around Tamir were, and it was always good to see how majestic the whales of Earth were, too! He was so ready for this adventure!

"Whales..." Charlie breathed. "I've always wanted to go on a whale watch. This is incredible!"

"Yeah," Graham said, sighing a little wistfully as he looked out over the water, and then shifted his attention over to Charlie soaking it all in. "This is great! So majestic! So beautiful! Zounds! What a great opportunity! Had I have known, I would have tried and brushed up on my Whale a little before we came!"

"You speak Whale?" Charlie said, eyes wide. "That's amazing! I wonder if I could make a charm for that?"

This sounded fun, and Jon was fine with water, so why not? He might stay inside as much as possible, though. Not actually due to trauma or anything, though - he had very little meat on his bones, and it was cold!

Anakin was very excited about seeing whales. It had been fun in Iceland, and it should be fun today, too.

Beta felt like she owed it to Elisabet somehow to go on this trip and experience more of the life on the earth Lis had loved so much.

She stood by the railing, white-knuckle-gripping it as she looked out over the water scanning absolutely everything with her Focus.

Raiden wouldn't say he was tired of the city, but he'd never turn down another food tour! Chocolate? Cider? This just kept getting better and better.

Oh? What was that? No sunglasses vendors on the island that anyone could tell? Or even on the way to the food tour? Ah, well. A small price to pay, overall, for the experience of another food tour that you know Ignis was going to be thrilled to experience at every delicious turn.

It was so odd how that kept happening, but that was the problem with priorities, right? And clearly they were sticking to theirs. Perhaps they could go searching for another pair of glasses that evening...though, of course, with Summer's party to get ready for, it was possible that their search might need to be postponed for another day.

Oh noes.

Still, Liliana was all too happy to provide a secondary benefit to have chosen to come on the food tour rather than scour one of the shopping districts for new sunglasses: the sensation of chill fingers brushing his face whenever even remotely appropriate, and more than once when it wasn't, but Liliana figured she could get away with it.

At this point, Ignis might be better off locating some sturdy tape and merely attempting to repair the broken ones, really.

And Liliana, as it turned out, could get away with a great many things, a fact that she was no doubt well aware of and planned to use to her advantage. And how could Ignis begrudge anyone for utilizing an advantage to full success?

Each time those hands brushed against his face, a small smile followed. More often than not, a kiss followed as well, sometimes in a delicate balance of chasing a taste of food with a taste of her.

"I do hope," he said, because conversation would also follow at some point, "you're enjoying the food as well as I am, darling, because here we are, only halfway through the trip, and already I've got weeks worth of new recipehs to try..."

"I am awash in anticipation of enjoying the fruits - and vegetables and sundry other courses - of this inspiration," Liliana assured him, sipping from her glass of cider, quite warm in the dual embrace of Ignis and The SweaterTM. "I was particularly delighted with the First Nation's cuisine and their use of less common meats."

It was genuinely surprising how few types of meat this plane considered acceptable for eating, at least in the places she had visited this far.

"It's a comfort to know, after all, that those times when I find myself missing those places we have been together, I simply need turn to you to at least get a taste of them."

The Astrotorium didn't count, of course, in no small part because she didn't miss it.

Steph had plans to hit a club for karaoke night and let Vi absolutely heckle her to hell and back, but that was for later this evening. For now she was totally down to do another food tour and be the kind of luxury tourist she'd never had the opportunity to before.

With some mildly conflicted feelings about it, true, but it was the experience that mattered.

Summer obviously had a lot of work to do for her party that evening, but the nice thing about jello shots was you sort of got them ready and then set them and forget about them until you needed them. Of course, there were other things she needed to take care of, so when she wasn't in her room prepping, she was out and about taking care of this, that, and the other thing that she'd need for a successful party.

The Morrin Center

[personal profile] what_big_teeth 2024-10-23 10:37 am (UTC)(link)
When she looked into things she might want to do while in Quebec City, hitting up the Morrin Center was at the top of Eleanor's list. Being managed by the Literary and Historical Society of Quebec, it boasted a 200-year old and absolutely gorgeous library that she really needed to see. And even though it probably wasn't the most exciting idea for a date, she was glad that Kamala was willing to be dragged along into it.

But the building also used to be a jail, and there were tours that included that, too, so if the books got to boring (or, rather, if anyone could manage to pull her away from the books), that could also be an option!

"Okay, this place is amazing," Kamala said slowly spinning around to take it all in. The architecture and all the books... it was incredible. "Why does Quebec have to be so extra? I mean the school's library is very cool but that's a magical one? This place makes the Jersey City Library look like the magazine rack at the Circle Q."

Eleanor felt a great rush of relief at Kamala's response, relaxing a little now that any worry she had that she would find it dull and boring had been dispelled. "Now you see why I was so excited to come check it out," she said with a smile, letting her eyes that lingered a moment on Kamala's gushing face to the beautiful library around them. "And, yeah, Fandom's library is great, and my last school had a nice library, and so did my grandfather, but not like this."

"No kidding this place is-"

Kamala stopped short as she spotted a category and grabbed Eleanor's arm. "They have graphic novels," she said with a gasp and looked at Eleanor in excitement. "Poetry and graphic novels. Literally a place for both of us."

Aquarium du Quebec

[personal profile] hashtag_chocobro 2024-10-23 10:47 am (UTC)(link)
As much as Prompto felt that Noctra would really enjoy the whale watching tour, the idea of a tour that long and out of the city made him nervous for if she were to start to get fussy or cranky and need to return early to take a nap or something. But that was okay, too! Because there was plenty of other things they could do a bit closer to the hotel, that still involved fish, and that included the Aquarium! Which was probably better because it was more aquatic viewing for their buck, prettier fish, and probably not as much down time where she might get bored.

Of course, at one point, she just got frustrated that they didn't bring her fishing pole so she could actually catch those fish, and Prompto was left shaking her head and wondering if people's souls really did get transferred into new people sometimes.
