Hello kids and assorted non-kids: it's another beautiful day in Kenya, another up-at-dawn wakeup. But really, when are you ever going to do this again?

STAR ROOMS

Each suite holds four students, two per bedroom. The main communal area at the Star Beds offers a cozy and homely dining room, sitting room and a wooden deck, which is the perfect spot for a sunny breakfast. Guided and hosted by a team of traditional Samburu and Laikipia Maasai Warriors, this cultural experience will most definitely be a memorable one. A large balcony extends out, and the Star Bed can either sit under the thatched roof of the accommodation, or be wheeled out to rest under the night sky.

Each ensuite is designed around the natural features of the hill. The bathroom with solar-heated hot shower and flush toilet has a unique layout in each room. There's also wifi and a roaring fire every night to sit around and tell stories. Or to sit around and upload your amazing photos onto social media and make everyone you know jealous. Or both!

Bedrooms

Each hand-crafted four-poster bed is on wheels so you can sleep out under the stars. Or you could keep it under then thatch, but...but...stars! There's either a queen sized bed or two pop-up camping single beds, whichever is funnier for you.

Once Shunsui was certain that most people, especially his roommate and suitemates, had probably already ventured out into whatever activities would entertain them for the day, he settled, legs folded in front of him, hat and haori off, with his swords crossed over his lap, and drew in a deep breath. Closed his eyes and slowly let it out.

For some Shinigami, reaching a state of jinzen was a difficult and arduous process. For Shunsui, it was almost immediate. And while he himself, Shunsui Kyōraku, the actual Soul, had been transported somewhere incredibly far away, his body, his gigai, remained, literally just a hollow shell of flesh and bone. A hollow shell that could still bruise and bleed, if the cut that sprung up underneath his right eye was any indication, lightly bleeding down his face but beyond that, there was no reaction, no movement, nor would there be for several more hours.

[[ for all intents and purposes, it should appear as though Shunsui is just in a very, very deep meditative state, but if anyone does try to interact with him, he will be completely unresponsive. Well done, moose, throwing the two dudes with all the weird creepy shit together lol ]]

In a shocking turn of events, the majority of people in Rosa's suite were actually people she liked. That Irene woman was still an unknown quantity, but had intrigue on her side, but, either way, she was definitely going to have breakfast here in the suite than out there where the tolerable person percentage was much lower.

And thank god for plenty of coffee, because that snoring from Blackstone sometimes didn't stick behind walls, much less being able to be contained when there weren't really any walls to speak of.

Breakfast in the Bush

Don't want to eat with your roommates? Come eat outside instead. Down by the main lodge, the menu offers a selection from eggs to fruit-topped pancakes. A daily selection of homemade breads, fresh fruit, smoothies, juice and coffee or tea are served, along with your moddable a la carte order from the menu.

Goose decided to head outside for breakfast and eventually settled on ordering eggs along with getting some juice and fruit because occasionally he did actually know what healthy food was and sometimes was capable of eating it.

Dwight was mulling over which activity to start with that day. As he pondered he enjoyed a rather large breakfast, eggs, pancakes, and fruit, because he was likely in for quite a bit of walking today.

As much as Ignis did enjoy cooking, he had to admit that one of the best aspects of these trips, beyond, of course, the once-in-a-lifetime opportunities, was that he didn't need to even once go near a kitchen for a change. So, again, he was absolutely indulging in that privledge again that morning, with a nice breakfast that he did not have a hand in preparing at all, sipping his coffee, checking the news, and perhaps even coming up with a new recipeh or two while he was at it.

Summer was definitely here to grab a bite to eat, but, even more importantly, she was seeing about talking to someone about procuring a few things on a list of ingredients, and some refrigerator space, because tomorrow was Wednesday, and she was going to have a lot of work to do between now and tomorrow night's very traditional jello shot room party, thank you.

It's an infinity pool and if you're lucky, the elephants will come into the valley below it so you can see them.

Spa Activities

Would you like a massage outside in the bush with giraffe passing by? How about a salt rub for your feet followed by a body polish using orange oil and ground coffee? The lodge is eager to provide pampering.

So it turned out all that riding had consequences, including aggravating her shoulder (albeit not as badly as a few weeks back), and Vi had been on the receiving end of some very pointed advice about how she should spend her day.

Then the girl who'd started this whole massage thing had barely touched her before going and fetching someone 'more qualified'. So now Vi was being worked over by some guy who could give Vander a run in the size and lecturing department.

There was so much of African wildlife to be seen from the resort, you know. No need to go stamping around in the brush if you could avoid it! At least, that was what Irene was telling herself today as she treated herself to the gamut of offerings at the spa.

Maybe tomorrow she'd go out on a horse to hunt a lion, or whatever it was that other people were off doing. Today, a salt rub seemed exactly the ticket.

And hopefully these professionals were well-used to people dozing off during their treatments. (Or, perhaps, they'd heard the snoring all night too.)

Game Drive

Did you miss it yesterday? Do you just want to go again? Whether you choose to go out early in the morning or later on in the afternoon, a KPSGA (Kenya Professional Safari Guides Association) qualified guide will take you across the open plains, through the central scrub area or along the river.

As a haven for over 260 bird and 50 mammal species, guests can spend time with towers of endangered reticulated giraffes, herds of elephants and endangered Grevy’s zebra, prides of lions, cheetahs and elusive leopards. African wild dogs, thought for many years to be extinct in the region, are once again being sighted at Loisaba. Try to spot the Kenya’s Northern Five: the Grevy’s zebra, wild dogs, cheetahs, leopards and lions. If you go out on the dawn trip, lunch in the bush will be provided. If you go on the afternoon trip, you get to drink gin and tonics (or just tonic, or juice, or whatever) and watch the sunset.

Of course, Astrid definitely had failed to take into account that these game drives weren't exactly the smoothest rides, but she figured any errant jolts of her pencil or particularly wiggly lines could just be developed into some sort of interesting dynamic style to...capture the roughness of the terrain underlying the inspiration. Or something. See? Who needed art school? Most of this stuff was probably all made up anyway.

Amaya'd always been an early riser anyway, even without the added bonus of wanting to avoid....uhhh, disturbing whatever sleep Irene did manage to get in between all the snoring to motivate her to head on out as soon as she could and hopefully before the others, so an early morning venture out to look at animals that she didn't get to do yesterday anyway? Sounded like just the thing, really.

Belle had considered lion tracking but Belle had also considered that when she did unwise things like that someone had a terribly annoying habit of correctly thinking she was in danger and then removing her from the danger.

So she was on the game drive this morning, looking for animals from a safer distance. FOR NOW.
