Loisaba Conservancy, Kenya [Tuesday Daytime]

Hello kids and assorted non-kids: it's another beautiful day in Kenya, another up-at-dawn wakeup. But really, when are you ever going to do this again?

And if Cara was spending the day this way, so was Surreal. She was intending to make the most of their time together.

Besides, hunting tracking was always an excellent bonding activity.

"Remember when we were the students?" she murmured, amused. "Why did we not get to track lions? I would have preferred it."

"I think they were worried about what we'd do if we found one," Cara replied in an undertone. "At least this lot is only likely to get eaten."

Cara, that was a terrible thing to say. At least when you were theoretically supposed to stop that happening.

"Sugar, I ain't been gone that long, I know you're supposed to keep them in one piece," Surreal purred. "You're a responsible adult."

Couldn't she just let them get nibbled a little? Lions deserved to eat too.

"It'll be a learning experience for them," Cara argued. "Not to leave the group when tracking predators."

"That's very true," Surreal agreed, pretending to think about it. "--but I can also see the appeal of wanting to pet one."

Because it was a very large predator that was extremely dangerous, and Surreal loved 1) challenges and 2) large deadly cats.

"I could see how it'd be worth risking a limb to see if they're as soft and cuddly as they look." Was Cara talking about the lions or other dangerous predators?

Both, probably.
