Anakin was extremely gratified that the chaperones on this trek were people who knew what they were doing because he had some doubts about the students. He gave Gladio a quick smile.

Sure, Gladio didn't have his sword with him on this trip nor could he manifest one this far away from Noctis, but if push came to shove, he had absolutely no issues with just straight up punching a lion in the face if need be.

He gave Anakin a faint smile back, a nice bro-lift of his chin. "Anakin."

Gladio had to laugh.

"But they seem so friendly."

Honestly, though, they did. Have you ever seen a coeurl? They made these guys look like kittens.

"But if you pet one, then everyone else will want to pet one and there will be a line, and crying, and at least one kid needing a prosthetic hand," Anakin said.

Gladio looked hesitant, like he felt that Anakin was really asking a lot there, driving a pretty hard bargain, but he sighed and shook his head, but he was grinning.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," he said, "alright, I guess you make a good point there. But...don't knock the prosthetic hand thing. I know a girl who'd probably get everyone lined up wanting one."

Anakin was going to skip the whole part where he'd had one before he'd changed into a different, cloned body of himself because that just never seemed to be the conversation starter it felt like it should be and nodded instead. "What does her hand do?"

"You know," Gladio realized, "I never really asked her."

The whole 'oh, hey, didn't you have an flesh-and-bone arm there the last time I saw you?' question also didn't exactly seem like the best conversation starter, either, especially when that last time he saw her, she'd also been dating one of his friends.

"I'm sure it's got some cool features, though," he reasoned. "It's way too shiny not to. But, even if it doesn't, it does have the whole 'normal arm stuff' thing going for it, plus making her somehow even more badass than she already was."

Seriously, though, Prompto. HOW?

"Shiny always helps," Anakin agreed, chuckling as they headed out into the bush. "But let's not sell the coolness of fake arms too hard around the impressionable children."
