Did anyone know what was happening up top? Maybe Rey would get a message. Hopefully news from Alara that progress had been made was going around!

Otherwise, well. TGIF didn't mean a lot when you were stuck in a hole without much by way of a sense of time.

"What do you think, Probie?" Travis asked, staring at yet another can of food propped on his knee. "Do we want canned spaghetti, or stew?"

Probie lay curled sadly by his feet, and gave a noncommittal woof.

You knew it was bad when the puppy got depressed.

"You might be able to find something more appealing," Stark offered. Like bowling alley nachos with shelf stable plastic cheese! "Or at least a bit of chocolate for dessert?"

There had been a lot of chocolate chips in Chilly Boulder, at least.

Probie looked up. Travis rubbed her head.

Wanda had spent much of yesterday (rightfully) hungover, so while she was in the bar today, she wasn't drinking anything stronger than seltzer. She was glad progress had been made, but was annoyed by the fact that she couldn't do anything to help from here.

She was real tired of feeling useless.

After talking to Alara yesterday, Rey actually spent a lot more time working on the attempted hole. She wasn't sure if there was a point now, but if there was any contact from above then maybe she could at least be like "here, we helped some"?

And if she was being honest, she missed her usual Friday training, though she was really hopeful to get back to it soon, so she found a quiet spot near said would-be to sit on the ground for a while. It didn't look like she was meditating, exactly, but she was trying to reach out her senses, see if there was something she could get from up there.

Annie wandered over at some point to sit next to Rey with a sigh, stretching her legs out long.

It had been a kind of mopey day for Annie. She'd been down here for almost a week, now, and the fun was kind of gone from all of it. Even Annie was having trouble keeping her spirits aloft, particularly given that she was being kind of private about it, but she really missed Diego. This was the longest she'd gone without being able to at least text or talk to him since they'd started dating, and between that and how long it was taking to get through that ceiling, and how long it had been since she'd seen the sky -- it was all starting to wear on her.

The fact that she'd been wearing a bowling shirt with the top half of her uniform scrunched down around her midsection for two days was doing absolutely nothing for her mood, either. Neither was the way her hair looked.

"Anything from up top?" she asked, trying to sound more hopeful than she felt.

"Yeah," Rey said, trying to look happier about it than she felt, which never went well. "Master Skywalker's going to negotiate."

With a raccoon.

Dwight had heard the talk going through the cavern. People were making headway...somewhat... it seemed up topside. That was good.

"Maybe we will get out of here sometime soon eh?" he asked the kitten that was busy climbing around on his shoulders. "Sounds like the rescue team has been deployed, so there's still hope."

The kitten meowed in response and went back to pounding at the tag on the back of his shirt.

Alara had had an uneasy first night sleep, unable to shake off the feeling that she’d been trapped by something before but couldn’t work out how. She’d have to ask her sister next time she spoke to her.

For now Alara was content to sit and observe what was going on around her and hope someone had been more successful at the compound than she had been.

Even Faye's sticky fingers couldn't keep her occupied today, since she was officially out of cigarettes. In desperation, she'd found a butt on the ground that she hadn't quite finished off earlier in the week.

So, naturally, she was hanging out of the Red Tail to smoke that thing right down to the filter. Maybe even past it. They needed to get out of here, soon, before she started going looking for other things to smoke in desperation. (Sprinkles. Little pieces of magazine paper. Expensive spices from Hannibal's kitchen.)

"If you need something to do," Stark offered, "or if you want to see something ridiculous, you could come over to the bowling alley. For the...cooking."

You could help cheat, Faye, with hoarded snacks!

Faye would almost always take free food.

Well, the mood seemed more optimistic today, but Steve, being Steve, decided that they needed a morale boost anyway!

And so, with Stark's help, he had pulled a bunch of the rickshaws in front of the bowling alley, since it was sure, let's say this in kind of the middle of Fandom Island, the slightly tilted version.

"We're going to have a cooking competition!" he yelled in a voice designed to carry. "So we don't much fresh food left," he added. "Or spoons, really. Or alcohol that tastes good. But we will adapt! Using a rickshaw or whatever your arms can carry, I want you to forage through our supplies to make a cocktail and an appetizer that pairs with it!"

Or doesn't. Because what pairs with Swedish Fish vodka?

"Come back here and use the kitchen in the bowling alley to prepare your dishes."

And use all the plastic cheese!

"You can work together or go it alone! Bring me your dishes when you're finished and I'll taste everything and declare the winner who will get some kind of prize."

Maybe a spoon.

He coughed. "Please don't make a donut."

It was a delicate, but cruel balance. A cooking competition certainly would engage Ignis mentally, but as the parameters of this particular one was described, he began to have doubts as to whether or not it would be very good for him spiritually...

Still...what else was he to do?

Oh, and to think, somehow, 999 feet was somehow not the lowest they could go!

Well, even Edward was out of ideas. So don't mind him if he simply collapsed amidst the cannons and the booze and the half-empty barrels of rum and stared moodily up at the ceiling.

The rest of the pirates seemed in better spirits, but then, unlike Edward - as one could tell by the loud, disjointed singing - they weren't morose drunks.
