Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Feet Below Fandom, Wednesday

The hole was still a hole. The divot in the ceiling was still not one yet. The impact on the Devil's Nest's liquor stock could maybe charitably be called a hole, though.

Happy Wednesday folks! It's hump day! That, like Wednesdays, days in general, and perhaps even time itself was essentially meaningless down here.

Annie was kind of starting to run out of things to do in the hole besides sit and worry and pray (and she'd done plenty of that earlier today), so she wandered into the bowling alley sometime in the midafternoon, if the clock on her dying phone was to be believed.

And as soon as she entered, she discovered that apparently the alley had switched itself into blacklight mode, complete with a disco ball.

So, Annie ducked back over to the Devil's Nest, returning a moment later with every fun kind of vodka flavor that was still left, and a set of shot glasses.

She was pretty sure it was Wednesday. And if she couldn't have jello, she could at least have fun vodka and blacklight bowling. (Which, honestly, would keep her wearing this adorable skin-tight white dress a little longer, rather than a bowling shirt, if only because Annie loved how it illuminated.) It also helped that she was a terrific bowler, so she'd be here practicing her throw, taking shots, and resetting the pins. Over and over again. Life in a hole.

[feel free to mod vodka flavors and an invite from Annie!]

Wanda was definitely taking up that invite. She wasn't a great bowler, but did it really matter when alcohol was involved? She just had to make sure she stayed sober enough to use her powers if a hole popped up, which shouldn't be too big of an issue.

She tended to wear pretty muted colors so she was not glowing for once.

"Let me know if you get tired of resetting those pins if you're worried about wasting electricity or energy," Wanda said, before knocking back a shot of watermelon flavored vodka. Hey, if she couldn't be useful in a meaningful way, she'd be useful in a stupid way. "Do we have generators?"

And why were they being used on a bowling alley?

"Ugh, your powers are so useful," Annie sighed enviously. "And yeah, we have one here and I think over at the fire station? Maybe the house, too? But not at the ice cream place or the bar."

Which was why the ice cream place reeked and why they'd just had to finish all that juice yesterday. So sad.

It actually kind of was. Weird.

And once she'd carved more of a future hole in the ceiling, Rey could go over and meet some people for bowling.

"I did like this game," she said.

She played it wrong.

"It's blacklight bowling," Annie told her, doing a little dance in greeting. There was a disco ball. She couldn't help herself. "Kind of a theme night thing."

Though they hadn't gotten out neon-colored balls for the occasion so it wasn't really the full experience.

"And I don't know how to turn it off." As if she would, though.

Steve had stopped for some food after a constructive day (evening? midmorning? who even knew) of moving rocks around and then wandered over to where the people were.

"Why is there Swedish Fish flavored vodka?" he asked, squinting at the label.

Because Eric thought it was hilarious, Steve.

"Because vodka flavor is gross," Annie told him, pouring herself another Froot Loop shot. "But I got out all the fun flavors, 'cause it's Wednesday and I miss Summer."

Annie was deep enough into her cups at this point to both skip the preamble and just admit she missed her friend, straight-up.

It was one of those days... nights... whatever time it was. Who the heck could even tell anymore down here? All Dwight knew was he had more nervous energy coursing through him than he was comfortable with.

So, he was going for a jog around their subterranean ...town? Yeah it was almost big enough to be one of those small backwoods towns he was all too familiar with back in Maine.

Dwight had already made one lap around the cavern and was working on his second one. And the more he thought about it the more he realized it would most likely take several more before he started feeling any better.

The divot in the ceiling was in Rey's estimation more of a crater by now, with rocks pushed towards the wall of that area to keep the working space clear.

It was kind of a routine: blast a ceiling with a spaceship, bring a bunch of rocks down, blast a ceiling some more, clear some rocks, then get out of the ship to pull what loose rocks there were down with the Force.

There was still a lot of work to be done but she at least found a lot of hope in it.

And from where Rey was pulling down rocks by hand- well she was doing a lot of gesturing and letting the Force do the hard part- she looked over her shoulder at him and said, "This cannot be that exciting."

Had Steve spent some time today rolling canned food into dark corners for his best friend who was doing his very best feral cat impression?

Yes, because no one did passive-aggressive like Steve Rogers.

Now he was back at the campfire cooking a can of beans over the flames, just like World War II but without the smell of wet socks being dried next to him.

Hannibal showed up with one bag of frozen green beans and another of ground lamb, assorted spices, and a cast-iron skillet.

"We're not quite so far gone as that," he said, nodding at the can of beans. He scowled. "Although all of my silverware appears to have somehow gone missing." He held up the salad tongs he was going to be cooking with.

At some point this morning Stark had become aware that it was, in fact, Wednesday. Again. Which meant he had been down here, in this hole, for two full weeks. Two entire weeks of being stuck in a cave and not a bit closer to freedom than he had been when he started. This realization was not sitting well with Stark. At all.

He was pacing near a wall, talking to himself as he'd done several other days. Just louder today. He really should have just stayed that pleasant level of drunk he'd achieved yesterday.

"Two weeks!" He'd repeated those two words several times already. "And we're still here." Not that anyone down here wasn't aware of that. Stark was just having a moment, okay?

"We're still here and still trapped and we're never getting out and I'm never seeing anything besides these walls ever again. I miss the sky. This sky. Any sky. Stars. Trees. Anything that isn't walls. Everything that isn't walls!"

He'd be okay eventually. Probably. He just needed to get this out of his system and hopefully cycle back around to accepting his fate.

Faye, who had been busy hiding a number of things across the three ships after her time spent working on the ceiling today, did not take an especially long time to notice that Stark hadn't turned up like he had the last few days. Either to help, or to be drunk and adorable. Either one would have been welcome. She'd even admit it. Life in the hole made things a little -- easier, that way.

"Hey," she called softly once she'd located Stark, coming upon him just in time to hear this wall-related commentary. "Hey, hey. We're going to get out. It's okay."

She wasn't sure she actually believed that! But she was also a very good liar, so. Maybe that could come in handy, right now.

There were some folk trying to cut a hole in the ceiling. Seemed like a daft plan to Edward, but he felt too mellow right now to say much to that effect.

Or perhaps it was the booze. There was a neat round circle of the alcohol they had purloined from the Devil's Nest yesterday, sitting just inside the circle of cannons. It was by no means all the bar had had to offer, but there was only so much a handful of pirates could carry, no matter how hard they tried.

The singing was getting progressively louder and less coherent.
