They'd handwavily gotten the ladder truck on its wheels, but even with the ladder extended, they'd only been able to confirm that the ceiling was solid.

There'd be no getting out that way.

Which meant Travis was officially out of ideas. So people were just going to have to bear with him while he treated himself to another sad lump day over in the toppled station.

"Since Sunday? You've been nearly an entire week?" Dwight asked, eyes going wide for a moment. "How... how long do these "events" usually last when they happen?"

"I don't know." Travis was very, very tired, suddenly. "The evil vines were maybe . . . a week? I haven't heard anything about weird, mobile holes. So your guess is as good as mine."

"Hey man," Dwight said putting a hand on Travis' shoulder. "You look exhausted. When was the last time you slept?"

Travis startled at the touching, pulling back slightly. “I’m good. Just — been a long several days. Most of these guys have only been here since Wednesday.”

"Alright, just make sure you take care of yourself ok? Don't want you passing out and cracking your head open or anything" " Dwight said, a genuinely concerned look on his face.

“Yeah, passing out is bad. Good note.” Travis sighed. “Sorry, man. I’m . . . in a mood.”

"Anyone would be after going through all that, don't worry about it" Dwight said simply.

“You really are just. . . . Always cheerful, huh. You just fell into an inescapable magical hole.”

Dwight shrugged. "I spent three years getting shot at in war zones. And I lived in a town where the Troubles were usually actively trying to kill people. Yeah this sucks and yeah I'm worried about getting out.... I guess I have just learned to not let the worry and panic show that much."

Maybe it was a curse in some ways, but Dwight chose to see it as one thing- one of the only good things- that came out of the last few years.

"Prefer to think of it as practical coping, but sure," Dwight said simply. "Just let me know what I can do to be useful. I'm sure it won't be hard to find me."

“Uh. Yeah.” Travis looked around. “Well, I officially ran out of ideas yesterday. So . . . if you’re looking for me I’ll probably be.” He gestured vaguely at the station. “I don’t know, hiding or something.”

Dwight eyed Travis for a moment, trying to determine if talking to him was what he wanted or if he would be better to let Travis have time to himself.

"No shame in needing to take a break, you know... recharge, come up with new ideas" he said simply.
