It was a beautiful, crisp, clear day in Washington, DC. The spring flowers were blooming, but the pollen count was reasonable. Hoards of kids bussed in from the suburbs were laughing on the Mall and spilling out from the various Smithsonian museums.

There was so sign at all in this universe that Donald Trump had ever existed.

Steve had pulled a few strings with SHIELD, and there were various private tours set up around town by people eager to impress Captain America. Steve...would mostly be avoiding those in a vain attempt to stay under the radar. His ball cap, light jacket and jeans screamed "leave me alone" to anyone who spoke superhero, even if the Brooklyn Dodgers insignia on the hat gave him away more than a little.

Tour the Air & Space Museum

Airplanes! Spacecraft! An entire exhibit devoted to Steve that he had not mentioned out loud!

In the exhibit, you will find the (censored) story of Project Rebirth: how a skinny kid from Brooklyn grew a foot, gained a couple hundred pounds, and had been sent out into the world to punch Nazis in the face, with a brief break to shill war bonds.

(Yes, the footage of Steve with the kickline was available for your viewing pleasure.)

Learn about the Howling Commandos, and their efforts in World War II, and watch the interview with Peggy Carter and try not to cry!

And then head to the gift shop and marvel at the amazing amount of merchandising being sold about your government teacher.

Look, Kanan kind of had a reason to be interested in keeping an eye on the development of Earth flight technologies, here. So, when he came across the exhibit about Steve - the one he hadn't mentioned out loud, yes - he needed to kind of stop and gawk for a while.

And then grin.

And then laugh. Just. Laugh forever at the kickline. He was getting dirty looks from other museum patrons, but whatever. This was gold.

Mary had set out for the gift shop, but found herself coming back through the exhibit to take a closer look. The kickline was amusing -- the girls were so conservatively dressed compared to the Las Vegas showgirls! But Mary ended up spending most of her time looking at pictures of skinny Steve with an wistful smile on her face.

No Cheeto to be found in this universe, and the folks in the liaison office were more than happy to provide a tour of public areas of the White House for anyone who's interested.

Anakin was a little confused about why anyone needed this many dishes, but he was taking pictures and sending them to Jaina in case she decided she needed any of this while she was Empress.

He kind of liked all the blank-faced guys around who looked ready to tear him apart if he touched something. It was cute that they thought they had a chance.

While it's still standing. Cough.

The Triskelion, located on Roosevelt Island, is the headquarters of SHIELD, the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. (They really wanted it to spell SHIELD.) SHIELD is an extra-governmental military counter-terrorism and intelligence agency, tasked with maintaining global security. As such, you're not going to get a lot of really, well, classified information on your tour (because this place was not open to the public. You were special), but you will get to see old photos of the founders of the organization (many will be familiar from the Air & Space museum exhibit), as well as a collection of spy gadgets that had been used throughout the decades.

The tour ends at the SHIELD memorial wall, dedicated to those agents who have died protecting the world from threats that most people never knew it was even facing.

Well, Tony had been to the museum already and didn't really need listen to a certain song as it was just stuck in his head.

And most of the other places had some... not so great memories. Which would be why he was traumatizing some poor guide by politely just existing in a tour group of SHIELD headquarters.

Steve was coming out of a meeting with Fury that had been called suddenly and grinned when he saw Tony. "Hey, stranger," he said, not using his name so it didn't really confuse everyone.

Clint had spent a little time at Air and Space snickering over the exhibit, but coming by SHIELD seemed like a much better way to spend time. It didn't count as work, not when he was avoiding Fury as carefully as he could. Clint found himself at the wall eventually, looking to see if there were any new names he was familiar with.

Vietnam War Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Korean War Memorial, World War II memorial. If you wanted a really nice run, for instance, you could see all of them by running around the Reflecting Pool...

Faraday despite his icon had removed his hat out of respect at the Lincoln Memorial. Then he looked over his shoulder toward the memorials to wars that hadn't even been fought yet in his time and muttered, "Damn."

There are a ton, and they're all free admission. Try out the Natural History Museum, or the American History Museum, the Gallery of Art, the new African American History Museum or the National Museum of the American Indian, which has the best food on the Mall.

Eliot had been in DC any number of times, but this was one of the few that wasn't a working vacation. As far as he knew there wasn't even a Vance in this world to recruit him to one of his ridiculous missions — which was great, Eliot could do without getting shot again, thanks.

So he was at the NMAI. He liked to hit this place up when he got the chance, especially the Native art exhibits. There was a gorgeous photography exhibit on right now where he was all set to spend the whole morning.

Then it'd be time for fry bread. God he loved fry bread.

People Watch on the Mall!

It's always a good time. Just be careful of the softball games taking place. If you walk through the "outfield" and get hit with a ball, that's no one's fault but yours.

And if you join a game and hit the Washington Monument when you're at bat, that's a ground-rule double.

Most of Peridot's day, it would seem, was going to be spent trying to patiently explain to concerned passers-by that she wasn't lost, and that, no, she didn't have parents that she needed to be returned to.

This outing was shaping up to be not quite as educational as she was hoping it would be.
