Field trip to Normandy, All day Friday

The bus travelled quickly, maybe more quickly that anyone expected, and was soon pulling into the town of Bayeux.

It's the first stop of what promises to be a very full day. Enjoy!

"Are you all on this planet now?" Ella wondered. "And it's a pleasure to meet you as well. What do you do in town? I'm a student." Which he probably could have guessed given her age. "I just arrived a few weeks ago."

"No. It is just me. I do not believe Narn exists in this particular universe at all."

"One of many new students, then. How are you liking it so far? I co-own and work at the shop in town. Turtle and Canary. You should stop in someday. I'll introduce you to a Squishy." Wouldn't Turtle be proud of him trying to rope a new customer during a field trip?

"I've not heard of it, but I hadn't heard of France before I came here," Ella shrugged.

And then brightened. "Oh! Turtle is my roommate in the dorms. I really should make it to the shop someday."

"Then perhaps you are from an alternate universe as well."

He grinned at the mention of Turtle. "Turtle is a very capable young woman. Since you are her roommate, your first squishy shall be on the house. It seems that it is indeed a small world after all. Even if we come from worlds very far apart."

"I'm starting to think as much," Ella admitted. "No one here has heard of half the things I talk about, or if they have, they're very different."

She flashed a smile. "A small world, even when we meet up in France. And I'll let Turtle know you promised me free treats. What is a Squishy, by the way?"

"Most people here seem to come from vastly different worlds. Interestingly, there are a few things that remain unchanged," he smiled brightly. "It is a very interesting phenomenon indeed."

"A Squishy is a frozen, sweet flavored beverage. Grape Judas seems to be a highly popular flavor."

"I'm surprised how similar we all seem to be in certain ways, even though we come from such different cultures," Ella nodded. "Even my language -- it's not called English at home, but Kyrrian."

"Though of course many things are very different."

"English was the most common human language in my universe. I find fascinating how one planet can have so many different languages. I suppose I should count myself lucky for having learned it. I highly doubt anyone here speaks Narn, and where would that have left me?" He chuckled a little. "Perhaps tying to communicate solely through arm waving?"

"Someone here would have learned Narn for you, perhaps," Ella mused. "Or you would have picked up English."

Though, if all else fails, gestures can be very expressive."

"Possibly all three," he smirked. "It would have made things very entertaining, I'm certain."
