The day dawned hot and sunny as the rest of the days spent in Mexico had.  But this day was different. 

Because the Mexican government had said ZOMGWTFBBQ STFU GTFO

Today there was only time for a quick dip in the ocean or the pool and maybe a mimosa with breakfast before the buses left to take the students back to airport to go back to the grey of Fandom.

"You're no fun," he complained, smiling. "It's a great idea."

"I'm worried it would work too well," she admitted, still smiling.

"I guess someone has to be sensible," John replied. "Otherwise I'd never have left that beach."

"You would have eventually," she argued. "Though maybe once the melanoma set in."

"I'm not going to get melanoma," he argued back. "I take precautions. Please note how I'm not the one who burned."

"I did not burn... badly," Jaina said, looking at her arm. The pink had mostly faded into a light tan. Mostly. "Besides, I spend much more time aboard ships in space than I do on beaches."

"Well, without access to ships in space, I gotta say I'm thankful for the beaches," John told her. "If only for the entertainment."

She went a little red, maybe thinking of a particular type of entertainment. "They definitely are good for that."

Noticing her blush, he leaned in to whisper against her ear, "I meant the surfing."

"I knew that," she lied.

"So you were blushing at the thought of me on a surfboard?" he teased, never learning.

She really hoped no one was listening. "It was a good image," she maintained.

"Now you're trying to make me blush," he replied.

"Maybe a little," she said, looking to see if it was working.

He was just the tiniest bit flushed. "Maybe I should try that, too."

"Or not," she said quickly, because she had the feeling it was much easier to get her to do it.

"So quick to say no!" John laughed. "You'd deny me my entertainment on the bus ride?"

"Well if it's entertainment you want, you can't surf here anyway," she teased.

"What can I do here then?" he asked slyly, reaching out to rest his hand on her knee.

Sometimes she couldn't believe she let him tease her like this, like at all. "Besides remembering that we're on a very public bus?" she said, noting the hand.

"I remember," he said, a little sadly. "Why, is my hand bothering you?"

He was tempted to test her, but decided not to risk it. "You know, I miss the shorts."

At the moment she was thinking pants had been a very wise decision this morning. "They can always make return appearances," she told him.
